I wish the FSM went into more detail. This is straight out of the FSM for my truck (VQ40) since its all I have handy. I agree it helps out everywhere in the curve, I was just saying that it seems to help more on the low end, <4000 rpm. My curve is lacking on the low end, top end seems to match VQ35's with vtc's and cams like me.
your curve on your maxima or your truck? since the info you posted is from the fsm for your vq40 frontier
The VTC system was used on both swaps, as I have used the VQ35 ECU in both cases. I know one thing.. I wasn't getting power to the VTC solenoids at first, and this thing was a DOG down low/midrange. Top end felt a little slower too.. but, not as noticeable as the other end of the powerband. I'd love to use a VQ30 ECU/harness.. as this would prevent me from having to deal with the immobilizer crap.. but, I refuse to give up the VTC.
There is a great SAE technical paper somewhere on here by Nissan on how VTC was used to acheive 105% VE on the 350Z top-end.
Your cams are probably helping make up for the VTC on the top-end.

You can have TechnoSquare copy the immobilizer over to the Maxima ECU along with fix the throttle closing issue, advance the limiter, etc..

Yup.. I'll be moving in June to work with Eric at Addictive Racing (formerly Apex Motorsports). Eric bought the failing business from the guy who ran it into the ground about a year ago.. He's turned it around, and is doing very well. We're looking to expand his shop into the Nissan world.
what was the problem with the car before?
and you get the lady at technosquare cause brian was fired or he quit which was the tech there. now the owner (tadashi) is the tech and you can contact him thru email.
