ARP Rod bolts for the VQ35!!!
I sent an email to ARP this morning to see if they would make me some rod bolts. I really prefer to buy their stuff over the Nismo bolts. I just got back the following response.
"HELLO
OUR PART # 202-6006 IS FOR THE VQ35 AS FAR AS HOW IT COMPARES TO THE OEM BOLT WE HAVEN’T TESTED
AGAINST THEM ANY INFO YOU NEED YOU CAN CALL OUR FACTORY @ 805-525-1497
THANKS
RONF"

I just ordered a set. They will be here in about 2 weeks. I am not supposed to disclose my price though. But I will say they can be had for roughly half what I have seen the Nismo bolts sell for. List on them is $229 so that should give you an idea.
7500rpm TS L-Spec ECU will come next.

I will install the bolts the first weekend I have them in my posession and they can be installed with the engine still in the car. But I haven't seen any revised torque specs for those bolts. I might snap a few pictures and explain a few things as I go along.
Some of the 350Z guys aren't responding too well to this and think I am full of crap for wanting to rev the OE rods that high.

"Let me give you just a few quick highlights of the 35th Anniversary model, starting with its powertrain:
- Horsepower, when equipped with the manual transmission, is 300 – exactly double that of the original Z
- Torque is 260 lb-ft, versus 148 on the 240Z
- The engine is the new higher performance version of the standard 350Z VQ engine
- Modifications made to achieve 300 horsepower include:
- strengthened connecting rods and bolts
- double-mass crank pulley
- revised shape of the piston head
- new camshaft profile, remapped ECM and more
- This higher performance engine tuning will also be available with the 2005 350Z Track model
- The 35th Anniversary model is also available with a 5-speed automatic transmission and 287 horsepower-spec engine"
So I guess DAVEB needs to report pricing on these new rods. I am pretty sure the new cams are just Nismo parts.

You can change those rod bolts in the car, just remove the lower and upper oil pans, turn the engine over till the big end of the rod is at its lowest point on the cranks revolution. I've done rod bearings on Sentras and 4G63 DSMs like that- in the car. SR20DEN lemme know how the ECU works.

hey,
please excuse my ignorance but this discussion is confusing me a bit:
How crucial were the strengethed rod bolts to allowing for the TS ECU at up to 7500 RPMs. Was this one of the main motivations here, i'm still not totally undertanding the advantage of strengthening the rod bolts (and of course i got alot to learn here) .
