I need your help people. My passenger side caliper is rubbing against the outside part of the rotor. It got to a point that i took the caliper off and machined down ghetto style to try and compensate for that rubbing. It seems to only happen when i really get on the brakes and it seems as though the caliper expands. I am running the Z32 aluminum calipers and Jeffs Brackets. I even tried adding washer to move the caliper outwards a little to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

hmmm.... ya know what .... check the caliper mounting ears and make sure they are flat. Where did u get the calipers from ??? Try swapping the rotor from the driver side to the pass. side. Could be that the rotor was cast/machined bad.
You didn't buy these brackets from Kramarz99 did you?! If you did, I sent out a PM regarding his copied arsed bracket sales and mentioned I take NO responsbility for fitment/quality for whatever he came up with
I bought rebuilt auto zone calipers. It seems as though it always happens when I really get on the brakes. Jeff when i get the $$ I will be PM'ing about some new brackets. Maybe its the brackets but the drivers side is perfect and I am getting new calipers from autozone (lifetime warranty). And I will try it with all brand new calipers and brackets.

Hey guys i'm kinda having the same type of issue but slightly different. I'm getting a rubbing noise as i drive & i believe the rotor is touching the caliper. I have jeff's brackets & have the 13 inch slotted brembo's from automax95 redrilled. It was fine when i got it back from my mechanic, but i painted my calipers saturday & i did'nt remove them for fear this may happen. However i tried driving this morning and soon as i pulled off there was rubbing noise.
This is how we have it bolted up with the bracket
But i also have read it should be (bolt-washer-lockwasher-bracket-washer-caliper) which this pic is missing a washer.
Is this correct?
do 2004 maxima rotors work with jeff's brackets?
I know they are about 1/2 inch smaller in diameter, but what is the thickness difference?
Umm, why are you using a nylock nut to hold together something that gets hot enough to melt plastic? no lockwasher on there either, and you have two lockwashers on the other side of the bracket.

I think i have the woot woot noise issue as seen in this pic ( Not my caliper but someone else with similar issue)
The rotor maybe rubbing the caliper. They solved the issue by shaving down the caliper but said not to do it more than 1-2 mm as it may affect the structural intergrity of the caliper.

I just followed this install procedure & it seemed to work fine until i got the noise issue.

I think that's a diff install pic. That pic has 2 washers probaby because if you screw in a bolt far enough it will touch the rotor. But they should have a lock washer on the other nut.
Thta's exactly how i have mine bolted up. I'm wondering if i need to add a washer on the other side of the bracket on the caliper bolt to center the caliper with the rotor.
well i had a chance to look at my calipers & found that it had shiny marks at the top and bottom of the caliper indicating it was touching.
I used a file and filed it down some on my passenger side & then put my wheel on and thought it was gone. I did the driver side & went for a drive and the noise was still there.
Its starting to get to the point where i might just go back to stock, but i'm going to grind it down some more tommorrow and hopefully it goes away.
The caliper is designed to sit as far down as possible so there's always a chance that tolerance stacking will cause this. Probably the best way is to have the rotors milled down .5-.75mm or so.
Yeah i know what you mean about the tolerance stack up. I will try to shave down a little more & clean everything. Plus i still need to add that washer to stop the claiper screw from going too far, which could also be touching as well. If those two things don't work i will take the rotor to be milled down some.
I added the washer & had the rotor diameter milled down 2-3mm & shaved a little more of the caliper & took a test drive and it appears the noise is gone.
I will drive it to work tommorrow and see how it goes.
