Possibly good lightweight rotors

http://www.racingbrake.com/NISSAN_MAXIMA_s/259.htm

Unfortunately they don't have blank rotors but the price and specs (weight) seem to be pretty good.

their 6th gen front rotor: 17lbs, $109
their 5th gen front rotor: 14.2 lbs, $92

In other words they weigh almost as little as two piece rotors and cost 1/3 of their price.

Discuss...

Bump... thought opinions? Does it worth getting those instead of brembo blanks? Anyone used them before or heard anything about this brand?

Hmm. The description doesn't mention weight savings. What is the stock rotor weight for ref?

I'm pretty sure that 5th gen rotors are 16lbs each and 6th gen are 21lbs each.

Edit: yap, that's correct: http://doug.maxima.org/showpost.php?...14&postcount=1

I don't see how they could have shaved off 4lbs per rotor less than the oem 6th gen ones with a single piece design such as what's sold by racing brake...

Do you mean your 2-piece slotted 6th gen rotors are only one pound lighter than stock 5th gen rotors?

no I meant my 2 piece 6th gen rotors are only 1 or 2lbs lighter than their 1 piece 6th gen rotors made by racing brake...that this thread was started about...

That weight cannot possibly be accurate for a 1 pc design.....will believe it when someone buys them and weighs them.

That's fairly light. My AP two piece rotors are 12 lbs a piece without the hat. (IIRC, 5.2kg in the AP catalog)

I'd be scurred of a rotor with walls that thin in a performance application. The onyl place you can save appreciable weight on a rotor is by making the walls of the disc thinner, which decreases heat capacity and lowers overall braking effectiveness over the long haul.
Stock 6 gen rotor is 21lb, so they're knocking 4lb of "good" out of the rotors.

you can go much lighter on a 2-pc rotor due to the better materials and aluminum hat. I doubt a cast iron rotor uses the same stuff.

Just recently I've been getting my car back to where I want it. Ordered a whole boatload of shat... including brakes. I forgot about your 2pc option, cripes ...

Well these are in my garage now, so .. heck ... I don't Autox, so hopefully I wont die in my typical daily drive/semi every now & then hardstop.

Haven't weighed them as of yet. I just might do that. Well the former not the latter.
