There are different ratings for how well a car performs in this test. It appears the Maxima did extremely well and was placed in the highest tier class: Superior

Test appears to be tested on the 2019-20 Nissan Maxima (optional for 2019/standard for 2020)

Statistics show that Halloween is the deadliest day of the year for pedestrians. Have any of you had the autobrake kick in and prevent an accident with a pedestrian?

I think the autobrake has saved me once so far in 60,000 miles. Not a pedestrian though, just someone who slammed on their brakes to make a right onto a side street they nearly missed.

Also had the BRAKE warning come up once when I went down a steep parking garage ramp too fast I guess and it thought I was about to slam into a wall haha

Speaking of collision avoidance, ever notice when it snows just a wee bit, not even enough to stick to those wet roads that your No Collision Avoidance light comes on....just when you most need it?

My 2016 did this and the current 2019 will do this in light snow or heavy rain.

Extremely weird. Think there would be a safety recall on this. Bet it is wider spread than we think.

Doubt that there will be a recall since the manual states this can happen in heavy rain. The moisture disrupts the radar beam. Same effect with snow, heavy spray on a wet road, etc.

Wonder if other brand cars have the same problem. If not, then why?

Sometimes if I stop and clean the front end with a rag it will reset but as stated above, it will fault again if the rain is steady.

Surprisingly a few days ago my Ob Avoid. light went off in a light snow on the interstate. By the time I got home, maybe 15 min. later, still snowing, the warning light went off. Go figure.

That just proves that Ford ,Hyundai and Kia are smarter cars... they can detect that they are just dummies and they keep right on going
