2002 Maxima SE 0-60 times?

I just bought a new 2002 Maxima SE. Unfortunatley for me my wife can't drive stick shift, so I got the automatic. I can't believe how fast and smooth this car is. My other car is a 330 horsepower Pontiac Firehawk, so I know when a car has power. I was wondering if anyone knows what the 0-60 times are for the Maxima SE with the auto tranny. I know the commercial used to show 0-60 in 6.4 seconds. Thanks in advance.

The 2K2 auto does 0-60 in 6.8-7.0 seconds. That is assuming you drive your auto without manually shifting it like some org members do.

...Yes, but don't rag out your engine hitting the rev limiter, you have to drive it like a clutchless stick, and time your shifts so you don't go out of the power band. But there is no question that shifting the gated shifter manually from a stop position will yield better acceleration times... If Motor Trend can get the same curb weight, 15 hp less auto Altima to 60 in 6.6, I am certain that the 02 Max auto can duplicate that, if not improve upon it...

How do you manually shift an automatic?

I've never done this before. How is it done? Thanks.

...You should really only do this if you have an 02, with the gated shifter, because it has all the gears laid out 1-2-3-D so you can row through them with the 'slushbox' instead of the clutch, but at least it gives you a little more control as to when the car shifts. I think 6.6 0-60 is definitely attainable with a little practice.

On manually shifting the 2002 auto, what do you guys think of this:
Because it is very difficult to get from 1st to second, start in 2nd gear, and shift to 3rd and OD. Will this hurt the tranny? It just seems when you manually shift, it really does ni get to the next gear until the trans itself is ready to.

Which G-Tech do you have? There's a newer one that came out, with double the features for double the price. I wonder how accurate those things are...

I just bought my 2K2 Max back in March and got an auto tranny because of the wife also.

As for the 0-60 time, that commercial sounds right on. At the track, I consistently run about 15 flat which roughly equates to about a mid-6 0-60 time.

I did 1 run with my G-Tech and got a 14.97 quarter mile... I really don't remember my 0 to 60 time. I think it was in the mid 6's. I think with more runs and cooler weather (I live in deep South Texas..HOT!), I could improve those numbers a little.

I just did a search on my old thread... my correct quarter mile time was 14.99 and my 0 to 60 was 6.4 in my '02 Auto.

I agree the shift from 1st to 2nd is physically the most difficult, as you have to kind of work it around. Unfortunately I think manually shifting from 1->2 will net you the biggest gain.

I've found that for whatever reason (even under full throttle) the tranny shortchanges 1st and shifts into 2nd very early. If left alone (like in "D" or "3") the tranny will shift 2 -> 3 much better (closer to redline) than it will 1 -> 2.

Just be sure to give it a few 100 RPMs or you will hit the rev limiter.

i havent ran my car for awhile but last time i did i set the g-tech up on a perfectly straight road and had everything set up perfect. i did 3 runs 0-60 i consistanly ran between 5.7-5.9 (my clutch probably didnt like it too much). reference note- i ran a 14.3 @ 97 at the track. i wish i had HLSD life would be much more enjoyable.

will
