Maxus 2012: Houston

Maxus 2012: Houston

July 27th-29th

Maxus in Houston will consist of 3 packages, I want to keep this affordable because Maxus in Florida would have killed me financially, so I will try my best to keep cost as low as possible.

UPDATE:

The hotel has been dropped out of maxus based on the many request/complaints on the idea of having everyone goto the Hotel.

You guys are now responsible for your own Houstonian Accomodations.

TIMES MAY BE CHANGED AT ANY TIME.

This is just to give me an idea, I'm writing it down here, working it out and I will rewrite it as I go along in the planning stages.

Map to All Main Destinations:
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=...4cb32a0a&msa=0

Friday:

Noon-7pm: Track 21 Meetup
http://www.track21houston.com/

-We will have a special "Car Meet" rate that day, $25 for 20 mins (2x10 Min sessions) during that time, you can go as much as you'd like, but I doubt you'd wanna do it for more than 4 times and not hate yourself the next day.

8pm: Dinner @ TBD

Saturday:

8am: Cruise to Memorial Park
http://www.houstontx.gov/abouthousto...gmemorial.html

9am: Drivers meeting for the Road Rally
-9:15am: Road Rally Line Up
-9:30am: First Car Leaves

10am: Car Show Begins (Judging)
- Basically I'll have the judges walking around then, during this time, I'll have a scavenger hunt going on with the people who are at the meet, we'll also be BBQ'ng and what not throughout the day... basically a big picnic... throughout the day.

4pm: Last car (should be) pulls in from the road rally

4-9pm: ROR

9pm: Night meet... Somewhere

Sunday:

7am: (Sucks to be up this early but Houston in July.... yeah.... -__-') Lonestar Motorsports Park
http://www.lonestarmotorsportspark.com/

-Get to Lonestar Motorsports Park by 9am, we're starting pretty early trying to get done before noon, the schedule will be arranged and announced at the dinner along with the classes.

1pm: Awards Lunch
-The other meal you payed for, we'll also be handing out trophies and taking final photos and then kicking you outttttttttttttttttt!

After: Go home

Proposed Racing Classes:
-N/A Class (Rules later, but no your average N/A car will not be competing against Aaron92SE, sorry Aaron)
-F/I Class
-Maxima All Out Class

Proposed Trophies
-Highest Mileage Maxima
-Longest Distance Traveled
-Best 3rd Gen
-Best 4th Gen
-Best 5th Gen
-Best 6th Gen
-Best 7th Gen
-Fastest Maxima
-Fastest N/A Car
-Fastest F/I Class
-Maxus Spirit Award
-Road Rally 1st
-Road Rally 2nd
-Road Rally 3rd

** THIS IS STILL A ROUGH DRAFT **
-There will be many ninja edits made -

Pre-arranged seatings?? Seriously?
That alone would make me want to skip that part. If I attend I want to sit and and hang out with folks I either drove up with or people I find of interest.
Also, I think you may want to consider having a check in on Sat at the meet, I know from past experience not everyone will arrive the first day, nor does everyone always attend the group dinners. Many choose to go their own route and do their own evening activities.

Nah, lol, just some on my part

Ahhh... Well there will still be like a car show check in so the judges know which cars to check out, I'll make sure to state that if you missed Friday's activities to check w/ the main table @ the car show/road rally.

For those of you coming from the northeast I can't recommend fitting these roads in to your schedule on the way there or back enough...

Skyline Drive, Va

Blue Ridge Parkway, Va

Cherohala Skyway, Tn-NC

and of course...

The latter two are barely out of the way but well worth your time. Anybody whos driven them would agree. Who needs a track in Tennessee when you've got some of the greatest driving roads in the world.

Haha, oh yeah. I tried to get them to come out to the northeast end of the year meet but they had plans. Btw; After seeing your max the one night in Fontana I finally pulled the trigger and led swapped everything. From switchbacks to vanity bulbs, everything.

Just so everybody knows Skyline Drive/Blue Ridge Parkway run parallel to I-81 and the Dragon/Cherohala complete a loop to get you back heading the right direction. 318 corners in 11 miles FTMFW.

*Cue Evil Laugh*

Ahhhh the road rally map is done..... Easy if you know Houston, but.... For those out of towners... MUWAHAHAHAHAHA. I honestly did not have the intention of confusing/loosing people but that's how this city is in certain places, those certain places have Houston landmarks and it's funny how the city gets hard to navigate around it's landmarks.

But if you have an attentive navigator and a sense of direction you'll make it, I promise.

Bonus points on the day if you guess what my favorite leg is

The website is kinda up, but content is being added daily. Thank you IB for stepping up on that one! As soon as I was about to pay

Yes prices went up, food is expensive, but like I said, with the website being up and finished soon, I can approach sponsors and start chipping away at it.

And don't quite start sending in payments yet... Just let me confirm a thing or two on Monday...

I am now adding a raffle to Saturday's events!

This is pre-mature but I'm just bumping things up when I can with new info.

Sponsors for the raffle include:

NWP Engineering
Operactic
CXJ Performance

Still sending out email blast to other companies who want their name involved with maxus.

Guys, this might be the best raffle and competition prizes ever! I have been getting a positive response from vendors across the U.S. looks like everyone wants a hand in Maxus!

Prizes and trophies will be handed out to the winners of Major Events. As a reminder the major events are:

The Road Rally
The Car Show
1/4 Mile Competition

As of now, I will not be offering a local attendee price.

Now, as for how you split up the hotel? I don't care, there can be up to 4 people per a hotel for maxus.

I will be offering extended packages for people who want to split rooms.

But I will not be offering Maxus to those who are not going to be staying in the hotel (you can watch, just not participate! Watching is free!)

Wait, so if we choose not to do the hotel package no one can participate in any other events?

Correct, if you do not purchase a hotel room, you will not be able to participate in the show, road rally, or track day.

Things that are available for purchase separately are the Raffle Tickets and Maxus Merch (Shirts, Lanyards, Bottles, etc)

But I have no problem divy'ng up a hotel room 4 ways, just let me know in advance and I'll adjust the cost slightly to accomodate 4 people.

So lets say the base package adjusted for 4x attendees..... div'd by 4 people, the math comes out to 67.50 a person....

Yes you heard me correctly.

pile up 4 people in a room, for two nights, 8 meals, 4 lanyards, 4 competitors in the road rally and show contest. YOU CAN NOT BEAT THAT ANYWAY POSSIBLE.

Hell buy a raffle ticket.... $72.50 for..... 2 night stay at a hotel, two meals, a chance to win a prize in the road rally (or car show), and another chance to win another prize w/ a raffle ticket.... HOW GREAT OF A DEAL IS THAT?!

Maxus is up to you! It's extremely affordable even w/ high gas prices.

I'll do some rough math.

1500 mile round trip w/ typical maxima mpg and gas @ 4.50 a gallon = round up to $280 in gas

Snacks, water, meal or two each way would come out to around $80

Your dinner on friday is covered, Saturday you'd need to get breakfast but we'd be bbq'ng all day during the car show and we will have refreshments at the nigh meet so you'd need to find dinner there $20. Sunday you'd need breakfast again, lunch is on us, but it's a late lunch, so youd need a snack, refreshments are covered by us $10.

177.50 per a person... Hell i'll round it up $185 a person +72.50 (Maxus) + $280 (gas) = $537.50

$540, your total cost for maxus if you share a room w/ 3 other people, which is barely the cost of a round trip air fare these days (after taxes, fees, baggage cost, etc).

This is possibly your cheapest summer vacation option this year, I can make a firm guarantee on that.

I'm having a hard time divy'ng up prizes, I will just have the winner of each event to pick from a prize pool, I am open to suggestions on prize division.

EG. lets say I have a Cattman Certificate, Lip Kit and NWP Spacer Kit.... It would be hard to say a person who just won the all out maxima class what they'd want for their car... Or even for a person who won the Road Rally or show competition....

I'd really like to just give out cash.... But we need better participation for me to even fathom that idea.

Start reserving your hotel rooms, bigger maxus gets, the more 'ish I can get from sponsors to actually get a cash prize.

BTW, cross your fingers, for BP or Exxon, I know+emailed some people high up there maybe we can score a discount on gas for a year or at least some gas cards.

Yes I know BP isn't that great of an option for us Houstonians, but Maxus is a National event meow.

Im out then.
I cannot justify spending 200+ for a room when I normally either use reward points or discounts through my work plus I had only wished to attend the car show.
Yes, I could share a room but Im a grown man and enjoy my privacy, especially after drivng and being outdoors all day its always nice to have a quiet room to relax and inwind in.
As far as your prizes, every other event Ive been to and took part in it was win what you win. Didnt really matter if it was specifically for your vehicle and etc. The winner always has the option of either selling it or simply trading it for something else theyd rather have.
Either way, good luck to you on your event. i hope everything pans out the way your planning it.
