Aftermarket Stereo and factory screen question

Hey all, haven't been on this forum for a long time - I use to own a 92 max and then a 97 max, but I am now looking into a 7th gen. I tried to search and find this info, but did not have a ton of luck. I have read that you will lose part of the factory "orange" screen on some models if you replace the stereo. What about the color screen with the back-up camera? I would add a double din NAV/DVD/D/MP3 all in one (probably one of the pioneers) and was wondering if there is any year/trim of max that I won't lose the factory display if I do that. Will all the HVAC controls and displays still work on any of the 7th gen max's when installing an aftermarket stereo? Thanks for any help!

I bought the Pioneer x930bt receiver for my Max...I love it!

It has everything...nav, bluetooth, DVD player, SD card, full ipod/iphone integration

Here's what it looks like: http://forums.maxima.org/8415684-post9.html

A member on here has succefully put a second screen up where the HVAC control screen at, he put the HVAC screen in the glove compartment. It looks very clean, I'm going to try and do this setup. Here's the thread on it:

Thanks for the info. I was hoping to avoid having a blank screen or having to move a screen elsewhere. So no matter what trim/year of 7th gen maxima I get, if I replace the factory stereo with an aftermarket one...the top factory display will lose some functionality, correct?

Correct! You will lose the top half of the screen, but then again the radio control screen is a separate screen from the HVAC control screen. The HVAC control screen is another piece, you can move it around.

I like the setup man! Looks cool, and I love how the last pic has Chappelle on it lol....anyways, I have some questions, with this pioneer screen add on, can you still attach a backup cam to it? I saw that it said that on that thread with the pics, i jus didn't see a pic of the back up cam. Also, did you install it yourself ?

Anybody try this stereo yet?

I have a 2013 Maxima S, with the dreaded orange "Atari" screen. I'm like a lot of you, I don't want to have to move things around or cut holes anywhere. I've been looking around on the internet to see if I can replace my factory stereo with something better. I found an All in one stereo (Dvd, cd, mp3 etc.) that the manufacturer claims is custom made for ay 2013 Maxima S (non Bose) and it also has the temp control/visuals built in. I contacted them and they said that everything that shows on my current screen will show on theirs, but I wanna know if anybody else has bought this stereo or know anything about it, unfortunately some people will tell you just about anything to get you to buy their product, anyways here's the link: http://www.diycardvd.com/for-nissan-maxima-2009-2013-car-radio-dvd-player-gps-navigation-advanced-n303-system-p-442.html
