Came out of the mall, car opens all lights work. No response when pushing to start. Nothing comes on radio, nothing . Anyone knows why? Getting a tie now .

sounds like the key isnt being recognized, does it say no key on the dash? did you try putting the key in the slot to the left of the steering wheel?

Well I tried jumping... Regarding key recognition, that's exactly what I thought , but I had my spare key brought to me and neither one worked. It does say No key when I enter the drivers seat.

I have a 2010 with 13,000+miles. Started having slow cranking issues with the stock "cheap a$$ motorcycle" battery Nissan installed in this car.
Didn't even want the hassle with the dealership run-around with recharging, drive it, check it, bla, bla bla, crap.
Went and bought an "Interstate", real CAR battery and problem over.

Note... Was a prior Camry owner, yet that "boring car" had a stock battery lasted me over eight years!!!
Figure it out Nissan!

One thing for sure that the push start button was on LOCK...not sure what that means.
But the dealership just ran diagnistics and now they are waiting for the NISSAN ( whatever that suppose to mean) to call them back with a key code( whatever that suppose to mean)...i mean why not just say it in normal words " We diagnosted and have no f$$$ing idea whats wrong with your car"

This is a known issue, 370's and GTR's and Maxi's from 09/10 are having this issue, Nissan should address it. Here is a thread over at the370z.com about it.

That's where they rape you on that labor..... but that is excessive for something that doesn't take a lot of time. That's about a 2 to 3 hr job according to what they are quoting you based on current labor rates and we know that isn't the case.

I have printed out the DYI and will bring it with me to the dealership to contest the labor charges...15 minutes worth of work...i mean ok let call it an hour...but 3 hours? thats a bit rediculous for a "professional"!

So I ordered the part. It's coming in tomorrow. Going to time the at their work and then if it's as simple as DIY then I am going to go ballistic. I already caught this dealership lying to me twice!

I just got the part delivered and it looks exactly like this one...it says 15 minutes to install...shoudl i install it myself or shoudl i have dealership isntall in under my supervision? meaning time them and then argue about labor cost?

just got back from stealership, and they had odacity to quote me 2.3 hours to install the part when the part and work to install wasnt even in their computer. So they " guesstimated" the time.
I spent about 40 minutes with the manager discussing how unethical and dishonest this whole situation has been. He said that he could relate and understood. He also said he will work with the cost of the repair to be fair about it( all in all a nice guy, no doubt about it)
We'll see end result...

The result was that : they dragged out for 4 hours to get the car ready but they only charged me for diagnostics and for 1 hour worth of labor. Now in all honesty of it took them 4 hours they shoudl have charged me that much.
Anyways, the complaint to the corporated resulted in full refund of labor cost.
However they disagreed with me that they shoudl be resposnible for wholesale cost overcharge and for the shipping of the part. They also didnt agree that electronics have nothing to do with mileage...i mean realY?
so i am putting together a well detailed nastygram to corporate, both delaerships and also going to send it to BBB and local news station...i mean the dishonesty i have experienced is beyond my belief!

Has anyone posted a diy for the install? I looked under the dash and cannot see the steering lock mech. I need to remove the plastic panel under steering wheel. Is there a way to remove it w/o removing then center radio panels?

I want to have the part ready to install just in case i get stuck on a long trip. This should be a recall.

Thanks.

Write letters to Nissan corporate if you're having this issue, this is how broken parts turn into TSB's that turn into recalls potentially.

Yeah this is definitely a well-known issue in the 370Z community (which they are IRATE about). Also goes with the Altimas, GTR's, Maxima, etc. Pretty much any Nissan that has the push-button ignition. There's some issue between the steering lock and the ignition causing the car not to start. Figure if you have a 2009-2010 with 30K+ miles, get it fixed before your warranty runs out! Most places are on a 4 week plus backorder for this part.

From what i have seen its all over the place mileage wise...there was another maxima that got towed in the same day as mine did with 50+K miles on it.
The reason that they said if you have a 30-36K miles to get it done because its not covered by warranty...which is bs if you ask me...all electronics shoudl be 3 years and not be limited by miles

I just had my car towed for what I assume is a steering wheel lock issue. Does anyone have a total amount they had to pay for a dealer to fix this? I am going to have them diagnose the problem. But if they are gonna charge me an arm and a leg to install a part that I can put install in 15 mins, I'm going to bring my tools when they get the part in and repair it in the damn parking lot.

I got stuck again. Made the mistake of chatting on the phone waiting in a parking lot. Acc setting only. 30 minutes and the motorcycle battery was drained.
Luckily a friend was nearby who had cables.

I'm wondering if I can claim the larger battery from the dealer under warranty.

The weird thing is that the car seems to try to kill any juice left, or it gets confused. I couldn't get it to shut off the fog lights before I got the jumper cable attached. There is a red battery warning that never comes on. Fat lot of good it is.

So as far as we know the 11's and 12's are not affected? I still have about 7k left on my warranty.
