XS Power D2400 battery installation pictorial... complete with terminal swap.
Some of you might remember me from my audio build last year. Well the new year is here and I'm feeling the itch again.
I decided to go ahead and do a MechMan 270a Alternator and upgrade the stock battery to an XS Power battery. The problem? That @#(*$@*# factory battery size. As some of you have already experienced, it's an odd size and has reverse posts so the choices that are available just aren't that great, especially if you keep your electrical system under a load. Anyway, I decided to take the plunge and flip the stock battery out to a group 24 battery with normal terminals and I thought I'd share the build with the Org, just in case someone else might be interested in some of the issues.
BTW, if any of you aren't interested in modifying your Maxima to this point, I give you my personal permission to not do so and to not continue to read this thread. Let's keep the flames to a minimum. I don't want a repeat of last time I posted a build log.
Now, on to the build! First off, the goods. An XS Power D2400 with the iBar system on top for maximum wiring flexibility.

(Note : I did find that you can most likely use a group 51R after I purchased the group 24 that I have, but I wanted the additional capacity of the 24 so I went ahead anyway)

Here's a shot of my factory battery with my existing cables on it
First off, disconnect the battery
Now clean that battery tray out. Gotta keep it neat.
Time to drop in the XS Power and get it wired up!
This is the stock terminal once it's removed from the fusible link/distro block on the positive terminal. I re-used that nut and a bolt that I had left over from my 350z. Any bolt/nut of the right width would work.
The new 1/0 wire to connect the positive terminal is in place. I'm not 100% happy with it like this, but I'll do more with it when I put in the alternator.
Done! (For now)

Thank you sir. My pleasure. I'll do another one when I do the MechMan 270a alternator install.
I debated on doing that, but didn't really want the trunk battery because I use my trunk all the time and need the space. I had already ordered the D2400 when I decided to do the terminal swap, then I got a D5100R for my 350z and went "Hey wait, this will fit!" Oops.
Are you running a bigger alternator?

It looks good ekrunch. Did you have an issues with fitting the d2400 in the stock battery tray? I read that you also have the d5100r in your 350z. Which one do you prefer? Also I take it the d5100r was easier to install? I know the d2400 is like 13 pounds heavier than the d5100 but you are getting another 10 AH and 400 Amp.
I also noticed you have the JL audio hd 750. How do you like that amp? I have some older kicker stuff (2 kicker cvx 12's and a kicker sx1250.1 that I had in my explorer) I was thinking about eventually putting in them in my maxima but I spent so much money on the I feel like I have to put the cream of the crop in. It just wouldn't make sense if I didn't. Any way any feed back would be awesome. Thanks in advance. I'd like to see how your engine bay is looking now if you've done and updates.
