ok so just to make this clear i recently primed and painted my front grill, but it is already being chipped up and pissing me off so im going to plasti dip. However i dont not need to strip the paint off or prime before i do it? Does platidip hide imperfections?

my guess when using tape...cut before you remove it w/ a razor...carefully

LOL i'm not thinking you have to THAT deep when cutting just enough to break the mate between plastidip and tape. you will need a new/sharp blade

Does the black plasti dip come out flat? Just apply a clear coat to make it shine? Has anyone done this? What clear coat do you recommend

It is a flat black but I originally painted in a gloss black but definitely prefer the look of the plasti dip and don't plan to paint a clear

How easy is it to peel off? Just wondering how it holds up to road debris . Looks great though.

SG, I like yours how you left the chrome trim around the edge of the grill. Did you just tape that off before spraying it?

Please answer me this : If you want to paint a section that you taped off you will have to use a razor along that edge so when you peel the tape off you dont peel the Plasti Dip off? Example : If I want to paint a big letter M on my hood I would need to trace the tape line when its done with a razor so when I need to peel the tape off when it drys it wont peel the Letter M I just made? Not that I would do that but there is a few spots I want to do and It would be hard to trace with a blade when its done.

And to bad they dont make this stuff in a clear color as that would be great to use as a invisible bra that is simple to apply and remove wehn needed unlike the expensive film a pro has to install over and over.

I was just thinking this morning that if you tape it off then remove the tape as soon as you spray it then your line will me there and it wont be dry yet so it won't peel off.... this will be time sonsuming as you need three coats so you will tape and untape 3 times but if any of us have compaints than we should pony up the dough and send it to abody shop... at 6 dollars a can IM not gonna complain.... and they do make it in clear.

If I did that piece Id want it to match the cars color, I dont wanna OD on the black around the car. I want some chrome around the car just to contrast with everything.

What color did you use to plastidip, just a regular matte black? I really like the way yours turned out with the chrome lip still there.

Does the chrome piece above the license plate come off?

No it doesn't. I wrap mine with black Marta vinyl instead of plastidip

antny74 has his done in vinyl. I'm thinking about doing my rear and the rest of my chrome trim in plasti dip. Already did grill, door handles, and lower lip on the bumper
