Yeah, why would they change it sooner? They typically do a 5 year design cycle on their models and the current Maxima is a big sales hit so there is no need yet to completely change the design. They might even wait 6 years, who knows

wow i thought most cars are 3year run but yea the max is selling good right now and its a awesome body i cant even picture what they have in mind for the 8th gen

Like many others here, I expect the 7th gen to run 5 years, have a 'freshning' with the 2012 model year, and be replaced by the 8th gen arriving in spring of 2013 as the 2014 model year.
But, as Smarty666 mentioned, it is possible Nissan could wait until the 2015 model year to introduce the 8th gen, since this 7th gen styling has gradually grown on a lot of folks these past two years.
My greatest question is whether Nissan will finally give a diesel option on the Maxima. They had announced a diesel option for the 2010 Maxima back in 2008, but that fell victim to the recession.

Just as info, the first six generations of Maxima had runs of 4, 4, 6, 5, 4,and 5 years. Each generation had a 'freshening' after two or three years, but with no major body changes.

I'm actually more excited and interested in the MMC for the Maxima next year. It will be very interesting to see the refinement changes they make to our Maxima. The Maxima is a great overall car and basically the MMC are just ways of refining and making a great car even better. I just hope they don't go all Juke front-end on us
I know light is anticipating a diesel 8th gen, but im wondering if a turbo 4 will be an option

A turbo 4, or a 6 cylinder with several cylinders inoperative (unless full power is called for) are both possibilities, or maybe the diesel I hope for.
Three factors that could work toward the 6 year 7th gen MONTE mentioned are:
1 - The styling of this 7th gen has really begun to catch on.
2 - The economy is still in a total funk in many parts of the country.
3 - 2015 is the year very strict government fuel efficiency requirements take effect. That could be a logical time to introduce a new, more fuel efficient Maxima.
