Purchased a Motorola Droid today and will be picking it up from the store first thing tomorrow. For those of you that haven't seen the phone, it is the first Android 2.0 phone for Verizon. It's very impressive. I'll be interested to see how it works with the Max's Nav and Bluetooth. I'll post an update once I get to play with it.

Can you try streaming the Droid GPS audio thru the bluetooth?
I used to watch videos on my RAZR in my Max with the bluetooth audio streaming the audio on the car's speakers. If the droid can stream the GPS directions over the bluetooth I'll be stoked!

The IPhones are on the 3G network, same as the Verizon Droid, from what I have seen they are as good as Verizon's service.
3G just means the connection and dowload/upload speeds and qualilty. Problem is that AT&T has a poor cell tower infrastructure at this time. Yes it is good in major population areas, but once you get outside of that... Good Luck.
On another note, I was gonna get the Droid yesterday. But I forgot my service contract does not come up till 06/2010. So, instead of $200 or $150 they wanted $600. I basically told the poor sales girl (in front of the execs that happened to be there yesterday), Im not a cheap bastard but I am not paying $600 for a phone and promptly walked out of the store.
I can wait 8 mths for my contract to end to get the Droid, by then the bugs will be worked out and newer version will be out or very close to being out. Besides, $600 is better spent replacing my stock speakers and maybe adding an amp to the car.

.
Thank you for sticking up for the rest of us and not dishing out the $600. That is an insane price for a commodity item and the fewer of us that fall for the glitz, the better for all. I can see the need for a premium markup but 2 to 3X????

These things are very expensive unless they're able to get you to extend your contract (and at at least $70 a month, the Droid contract isn't cheap). They subsidize the device knowing they're getting another 24 months of payments with you.
Still, you're better off waiting. I DO have the option of trading in my phone now for $200 and plan to wait because I recall what happened with the iPhone, with a substantially better, less expensive one coming out months after the original.

hi guys,
I actually bought the DROID and have a 2009 nissan maxima with navigation.
I am not to happy with the bluetooth. I came from a bb storm (sucked) and i am a lot happier with the droid as a phone but the bluetooth support is not that great. I was able to pair the phone up and ran to a few issues in which the phone would not stay connected. This seemed to happen in the beginning but now i really havent had any connection issues. But I can not download my contacts via bluetooth. I have no idea why. The is no options in the contact to transfer them.Didnt have this issue with my BB.
I would love to try and use the bluetooth for the audio but i cant figure that out either.
I was wondering does the navigation have software updates? Meaning if i go to the dealer would they update the software of the navigation system? Just wondering because i have been having ipod issues also and i was wondering maybe i had an old version of the software in my car.
I have to say though the DROID navigation is awesome!
I also have the Droid (and love it) with the 09 Max with Premium no Nav and the phone synced to the car quickly and painlessly. Also the Droid is a perfect substitute for the nav system. I have a phone that cost me nothing that gives voice directions for free vs. a $2,000 upgrade it was an easy choice. Granted I've only needed directions in my car twice this year so take if for what its worth.
I have not tried to stream bluetooth music from the Droid yet. I keep a 160 Gig iPod in the center console for my musical needs.
If any one is looking for a great phone on a good network I would go with the Droid. I also had the Storm which was fine but the Droid is more of a toy which is a huge plus.
