Vehicle Information Display

Does anyone know how to reset the display that is under the speedometer? I reset the MPG display on the Nav screen but cannot figure out how to reset the other display. Is this a dealer reset only?

I'm not absolutely sure exactly what you are asking, but I think you are asking about the Vehicle Information Display (VID), which is a rectangular display window just under the center of the speedometer.

If that is what you are asking, that window can display cruise control information, intelligent key operation information, as well as lots of indicators and warnings. On the dash just to the left of the steering wheel is a little round button with TWO OVERLAID SQUARES. Pushing that button rotates the VID through MPG, MPG/MPH, Time/Miles, Range, Exterior Temperature, Setting and Warning. Sometimes, that switch can be ornery, and I just push again and try to be patient.

There are operator options within many of those display options. All this is laid out starting in the third colume of page 2-16 of the Owner's Manual, and continuing through the second column of page 2-23. All of the many alarms and alerts that can appear in the VID window are pictured within those pages.

If you looked in that part of the Owner's Manual and didn't find an answer to your question, rephrase your question here again, and we will try again to answer it.

EDIT EDIT EDIT! - After thinking through this, and rereading your question, I think I am beginning to understand what you are asking. The manual blathers on about how everything is presented AS OF THE LAST RESET. But does not tell us HOW to reset. I'm sure this reset does not require dealer intervention. Just guessing, but maybe that little round button to the right of the button with the squares on it is the reset button. I'm sure there are those here who know. If they don't pipe in, you and I can try that button and see if it is the reset button.

Yes, that is what I am referring to. I read through the manual and no where does it tell you how to reset the VID. The squares button is what goes through the menus and the dot button is what will move you through the options list once you are on a specific menu. I haven't had any luck resetting it.

Now you have me a bit confuised....are you looking for a 'Global Reset' or are you trying to reset the discreet components (e.g. I want to set my MPG and Average Cruise Speed back to 0?) If the later...just press and hold the "dot" button (you do this for each discrete item you wish to reset.)

If you are looking to reset "Everything" at once...I don't know that it is possible from a user perspective.

Just so, I have to admit there are more options that MUST be available to us...for example...I just returned from a business trip where I rented an 09 S. The VID MPG "Bar Graph" was calibrated between 0 and 30. When I got home, I noticed mine was between 0 and 60 but haven't been able to determine how to reset or switch between these ranges.

Have you tried holding down the dot button on the menu you want to reset?

The page button scrolls thru the menu. The button lower and to the right resets the page you are on. Push and hold.
