Anybody know how to skip straight to the beep on the Nav voice prompts?

Once you get familiar with the questions and statements the "GPS lady" asks and makes, you find yourself wishing she would just not talk and just give you the beep so you can speak the commands immediately. Is there a way to do this?? I read on one thread that you could press the same button again on the steering wheel to go straight to the beep, but all that seems to do is make her start over with speaking the menu.

Thanks in advance!

Yes you want to use turn on the alternate command mode in the Nav unit.

It will do it without alot of addtional talking. But she will still talk to you.

Check out page 4-125 of your owners manual for additional info.

Hi Sam...

Thanks for the reply. I believe (and I will confirm this when I leave work today), I have already switched it to the alternate command mode. I think I noticed things moved along a little quicker with the prompts. I guess I was just hoping to be able to go into some kind of expert mode where as soon as I press the button on the steering wheel, I wouldn't have to listen to her say "Please say a command from the blah blah..." and would instead just save me having to hear all that every time.

Did you try hitting the button on the steering wheel that turns the bluetooth phone on when she talks? I don't have the Nav but the process I just explained works for when she is talking with the bluetooth. Worth a shot I figured.

MaTt...

Good thought...I just went out and gave that a try but no dice. When I pressed the bluetooth button on the steering wheel, it just took me to the phone menu on the nav. And as I mentioned before, if I try to press the voice button a second time to try to take me straight to the beep, it just says "Pausing voice recognition".

If you press the voice button a second time it will allow you to say any of the commands displayed without her speaking the commands.

Go to SETTING, then OTHERS, then VOICE RECOGNITION, then turn on MINIMIZE VOICE FEEDBACK. It will just beep when you press talk button and wait for your command, also suggest turning on ALTERNATE COMMAND MODE and take a couple minutes to do the SPEAKER ADAPTATION, it will learn your voice and also give you an idea of what other voice commands are available (outside of reading the manual of course) LOL... hope this helps!
