Birthday Max

A year ago today I got my Max and after 42000 miles, still really liking this ride. Giving her a nice Hand Wax today after her bath and some saddle soap to boot. I'll also stop by and order a new set of OEM floor mats to replace the frayed edges in the drivers seat.

Still having the occasional issues with the climate control seat, (yeah it is on the fritz again) but the shop driver always takes me by starbucks on the way to the office so not all bad! Tailpipes look just like new (no carbon or rust) so a nice clean burn from this engine (I really bought this car more on product faith than personal experience so am very pleased with this engine.)

My max turned 1 on wednesday, with 15k on her. I am more than pleased with this car and don't regret getting rid of the Z (much). What do you do to care for the leather? I really need to get on that before it starts to 'wrinkle' too much

I normally use either Meguiars Leather or just Saddle Soap. Depends if I am cleaning or conditioning. So far, no wrinkles at all. Congrats on your anniversary!!!

I wonder if all the humidity down here keeps the leather more "stable." I've seen a few posts where people complain about wrinkles but even with my size and weight (6'4" 250) I've not seen any wrinkles yet.

My Car's Birthday was yesterday! Sept. 11th! Happy Birthday to your Max dude! I thought I was the only one celebrating my car's birthday! I have a lot of wrinkles on my seat, it must be the central Florida humidity!

Dude you're in the Bay Area too. Where about, I have a Super Black/Charcoal Sports Pkg.! I saw that in my seats too, but more on my driver's seat.

It's good to hear I'm not the only one questioning the wrinkles in the leather. I just ordered some Zymol Treat leather conditioner as well as their cleaner. Hopefully this will work, and for $30/bottle for the Treat it damn well better...

You'll be very happy with it. I got some a little while back. Haven't used it on my Maxima yet, but did use it on our family car, and I am very happy with Zymol. Best stuff I've seen yet for car leather.

First let me state I have NO wrinkles other than what came when it was brand new. I use Zymol Treat also!

Zymol is awesome! Good thing you got the Zymol "Treat" conditioner many people make the mistake and purchase the cheap Z509 stuff.

Watch this video this detailer in the UK uses the Zymol Royale Wax....

http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...5439630223974#

Hey it's on sale at Amazon for $8,415.00! Over a $1,000 savings I'll buy two tubs please!

http://www.amazon.com/Zymol-12001-Ro.../dp/B000F3K0T8

I have the Zymo Concurs Wax ($175) I love it and have used it for over 10 years now. Zymol waxes are actually "zymes" that turn into wax when exposed to air during application on your paint surface.

What Is Zymol Concours?

Concours will produce a deeper shine because it contains Brazilian No. 1 White Carnauba in addition to No. 1 Yellow Carnauba. "White" Carnauba is made from the sap of very young palmetto plants and is highly transparent. Concours also offers added protection because of the increased concentration of Carnauba (47 percent Brazilian No. 1 Yellow and No. 1 White Carnauba by volume (10%Yellow, 90% White). This greater concentration provides better protection against airborne contaminants and reduces paint oxidation by diffusing more UV and infrared radiation. Concours offers an excellent price/performance ratio.

So will this Treat get rid of some of the wrinkles, or will it just prevent more from developing? Any tricks/tips on applying it?

OHHHHH MANNNNNN!!! I thought I was over the top and crazy when it came to keeping my MAX clean........I WAS ABSOLUTELY WRONG!!! I would love to get her cleaned at least once by someone like that....or just learn how to do it by myself and save some cash....!

Watching this makes me miss my MAX even more ahhhhh!!!!! I drove my Max to Alabama and then over to San Antonio wahsed her and had to leave her in the security of my buddies garage while I came back up here to Missouri so I could spend time with the wife and get our household goods packed up and shipped out down to San Antonio! I will be there next Sunday and I will be able to drive my Max once again since parking her on August 27!!!

Unfortunately with leather once you have the wrinkles I've never been able to get rid of them. If you properly clean and use a conditioner that hydrates the leather new wrinkles typically don't form however it really depends on the cut of leather and how it was treated in the first place.

I spend a lot of time making sure the dirt and residue is all gone, After cleaning I let the car sit out in the sun and heat up the interior. Some people use heat lamps, etc to heat up the seats this is really optional and no one really can say heating up the seats makes any difference. Treat is highly concentrated so you need to apply it in small even amounts, wipe on one DIRECTION only, let it sit for at least 10 minutes, I typically lock up the car and go watch Formula 1 for a couple hours. Come back and buff with a soft towel. All Done.

Some people will treat it again and again, they say you can't over apply it but I typically just do one treatment at a time.

Hey Lt, happy b-day to your Max, sorry about the problems. Mine hit one year last month and I have 21K on her, enjoy the ride.

Reading this thread made me feel guilty that I forgot my car's "b-day"... LOL

Interior got a nice cleaning today. Raining most of the day so didn't get to the exterior.

Congrats on your Max's bday. Lots of miles, though. I thought I was the only one who drives a lot as if my job is delivery. Keep ot running good!

Though I don't drive a 09, I keep up with mine's bday, especially because it is on July 4th! Easy to remember, you know. Got my 08 on July 4th 2008 with 15miles on it. Now at 33k, it is still driving like new. Today, I got it washed, waxed and put half bottle of Redline SI-1 and filled up my tank. Got to see how it treats my Max.

What do you use for an applicator? Is a wax pad good?
