Angry Old and new problems with my max

Long story short, daughter needed a car. There are no inexpensive reliable vehicles under 15k anymore. They're all beat. So I figure I have a couple of years left on the max so we gave said daughter the wifes Cruze and got the Mrs a CX 30. Noticed a jerky takeoff yesterday on the max, its a cvt I know but different than normal. Oil change was due and I got under the car and cvt leaking pretty good at the case. Of course it is. The issue is It will have to be taken out and cracked in half to put a new gasket on it. I topped off about half a quart of cvt fluid and the jerkyness is gone. But. The crank knock is back. Of course it is. I had the #1 bearing replaced once and it was a ####show of a repair. In a nutshell knocking engine and cvt needs extensive repair. Interior is still very good, the front fascia is beat up due to the poor roads in SC. I was getting a quote on front struts yesterday to keep it going as well. SMDH

Looks like my max is getting traded in today. Ill hang around but the car needs more $$ in repairs than its blue book value.

I wanted to follow your lead LT, but the poor repair from nissan on the knock still pisses me off. I would have put a reman cvt in but a long block and a cvt put me over the edge. I picked up a CPO Mazda 6 turbo under blue book yesterday.

Nice choice! It is getting harder and harder to find sedans.
Congrats on your new ride!

Yes, the Mazda 6 is a nice car. My coworker had one and they are good looking, solid cars.

Loving this Mazda. I miss the immediacy and sound of the 3.5 cvt combo. The 6 is in the ballpark speed and power wise and handles soo much better. It has whiffs of turbo lag every so often. Getting 33mpg which is 9 mpg better than the max and on regular. Regular its 227hp / 320tq, on premium its 250hp / 350tq .

I've been blessed in owning my 3 Maxima's, 97, 03, and now 10.

All three have gone past 150k miles and I sold the 1st one to an Army friend, traded the second one after I had a surgery and needed something bigger.

My 2010 is still going strong at almost 200k miles. When I finally retire it I'm going to look at getting a Mazda 6 or Kia Stinger GT.

I have a 2nd set of wheels for my Maxima from a 2006 350Z and I'm going to ensure that my next car has the same bolt pattern so I can use my Maxima wheels on it.

Yeah, I've been trying to track down either a 2023 Stinger GT AWD or a newish Kia K5 with the big engine and AWD.

I love my Maxima but there are a few deserving people here where I live that I can donate it to or maybe even sell it to at the family rate.
