Black December

Finally got a few minutes to update ya'll.

December was NOT a good month for my 09.

1st the radiator fan would work but not well enough to keep the AC cool at stop lights so had to replace that. Not bad, I believe I had that replaced under warranty at 30-40k and it lasted until 474,000 miles so got my money's worth there.

Then a week later, the water pump started leaking all over the road, getting about 100 miles to the gallon of Antifreeze! Well, for those who know me, I don't like to half step so I went ahead and took it to a local shop and had them not only replace the water pump, but while they had it off to be proactive and change out the timing chain, tensioner, guides, variable cam timing actuators and while they were at it, go ahead and put some new Denso's in there.

Got it out of the shop and of course first thing I did was drain whatever oil they had put in it and replaced it with my Mobil 1 and Mobil 1 Filter. Happy boy....until

A young women ran a red light and got my left rear quarter panel and wheel. Arrg. But thankfully, my dashcam showed the young woman just didn't like the color of the light and her insurance paid for everything straight away! But was without my Maxi during the holidays. Sigh. Just got her back and on the road so will have to go thru and do the normal things you need to do if you didn't do it yourself like retorque the wheel lugs and make sure the battery connections were put back on tight and replace the 187 bulbs in the taillight assy with leds to match the other side and not run down the road with running lights burnt out.(you see it a lot down here...brake lights are on but the lower/side lights are burnt out. (Sorry, that was a mini-rant)

So here is hoping for a better 2024. Now at 478,000 miles.

Lt

Glad to see that you were able to have the damage fixed and keep it on the road.

I recently had back surgery and just cant bend over the engine bay for very long so while it would have been fun getting greasy and cussin, I had to farm it out

I'm a fan of your high mileage pictures, I used one of them as my screen background. I plan on documenting my own mileage once I reach 200k miles hopefully by my birthday next month. They are an inspiration and a testament to how good these cars can be if maintained properly.

Thanks all! We will keep racking the miles up (although only going to the office 3 days a week now!)
