Mod list

I received Motordyne's prototype exhaust system for the Maxima. Here is the full experience through my eyes. Also playing around with video editing in iMovie.

I replaced AAM competition exhaust which in my opinion when coupled with RACINGLINE's y-pipe was the best sounding exhaust for the Maximas. However, problem was they weren't a direct fit and modifications had to be performed to get it installed properly......
MOTORDYNE's complete system y-pipe and exhaust don't encounter that issue. Being specifically fabricated for the car, performance is increased, interior cabin noise is decreased, and WOT screams commanding the attention of anyone who appreciates a good exhaust tone. It definitely turns heads, yet at idle is surprisingly quiet. I am thoroughly impressed.

Wow. Well done! Sounds incredible. Agree that it is the best sounding setup for the 7th generation Maxima to date.

It really hit home for me on the cold idle and especially when you took off after that Civic tried stuntin' past you; it sounded amazing.

Looking forward to the upcoming deets from Motordyne!

Oh I think they sounded A LOT different, aam was not as much of a growl, especially idle.

The 2 most significant differences are the 1- drone in the interior cabin is cut at least 80-90%. Closer to 80 but definitely noticeable and don't want to say non existent but I actually forgot car was on at one point yesterday. 2- there is a definite power/torque increase (butt dyno), but noticeable. Perhaps something to do with the fact that both were designed to work to together and the mandrel bent tubing. AAM is a great catback system. Motordyne is a great complete exhaust system. Now both are excellent quality, and you get what you pay for. So if mandrel bent tubing, back pressure, minimum drone, and throaty exhaust... Don't mean much to you, and you just want to have an exhaust for big tips, not necessarily performance, and just to rev at people... Neither system is for that individual. This can be achieved with straight pipes and some eBay or Pep Boys mufflers. Save your money and do that. I have experience with Greddy, Borla, Remus systems on over 10 different vehicles. For the Maxima, Motordyne's complete system has me throughly impressed. Sound quality, performance and interior noise, I rate a 10 out of 10 in all categories . AAM doesn't have a complete system, we have to fabricate the y-pipe from Racingline which may affect performance as compared to a designed system. I rate the AAM 9 sound quality, 8.5 performance(which might be the modified y pipe, because I sure wasn't going to cut off and reweld part of that $1300 system), and interior noise a 7. AAM setup is by all means a great catback system... But just as with time and technology changes every two years, Motordyne complete system has taken the crown as MY favorite exhaust.

I noticed you had a Nissan dealer install the Motordyne system, so can I assume that the Y pipe includes the 3rd Cat? Also I have not seen price mentioned anywhere yet. I would guess its a good bit more expensive then the AAM, just curious how much more.

from the video it's difficult for me to hear the difference but I trust you honest feedback regarding the two systems. If drone is reduced with the motordyne system then that seals the deal for me on their product.

Staggered-thank you for your feedback. It's much appreciated

ThinBlue82... You are correct video does either system no justice.. Even with a subwoofer.. But that is the best way...
Bossman... I chose the dealer because this being a prototype system and me coming from a custom system, I wanted to be sure anything needed would accessible. Which I was glad I did because I needed 2 gaskets for the y pipe... Coming from a stock system you should be able to reuse all factory gaskets.... And when price is finally released.. You will not be disappointed

After surpassing the 500 mile break in period, I must say interior cabin drone is almost nonexistent, and at WOT, she is a beast...

My god man-- don't keep us in suspense on the price! Okay so you probably can't give us the EXACT price of the exhaust system but is it about the same as the AAM exhaust? Or is it more?

When are they going to start selling this? Need to know since some of us need to start saving our pennies now... LOL

Just wanted to find out if you've had any problems with the exhaust system thus far? Specifically, any problems with the y-pipe-- have you thrown any codes or warning lights due to the y-pipe?

Thanks in advance for the feedback...

I absolutely would love to buy this. Sounds better than any exhaust(manufactured or custom) for our maximas. Do you happen to know if they have any coupon codes available for members?

No there is nothing available. Not sure if Tony Motordyne will go any lower that what is posted. I'm also not sure if shipping is included but bank on paying 1800.00 for the full setup

Seems like there are two websites, one of the websites is outdated. Here is the correct listing:

Y-pipe

Is there an option to bolt thier y-pipe to the stock exhaust? For people that dont have all the cash at once?

I don't see why that wouldn't work. You should be able to bolt their ypipe up to your stock exhaust without any problems.

I wonder if the y-pipe alone will be any louder than the stoc y-pipe??? I would assume that it would a little.......
I'm very interested in both of these pieces, they sound awesome and no/very little drone is a huge plus.

It will probably change the exhaust note slightly but not by much. If it's anything like the RL ypipe then you should also see a few hp gains as well but again not by much.

^ I disagree on the gains. Almost all of the gains seen are from the y-pipe when changing exhaust, not from the mid/B-pipe back section.
The increases are claimed 10-15 hp, and that is from the decreased restriction off the cats, not the larger pipes in the back.

The tone will change some, but it won't be much louder.
