Should have taken a closer look when I installed the fog light's and had the engine pan off.
Just wondering where all the air goes that these little gems scoop up?

There are slots in the fender well plastics. I assume it's designed to keep the brakes cool. There's a lot of people here with 09-10s including myself still running the factory brakes with lots of life left. I'm just throwing it out there but maybe it prolongs the life the of brakes as well

I'm pretty sure the brake ducts are just for looks and don't do much to cool the rotors. I believe the drivers side fender wall is solid but the passenger side has some ducts.

All the more reason to get DRL's in the brake ducts to make them more "functional".

Or do some cutting and fiberglassing, make those vents truly functional! Thanks for the idea!

They are vented through the wheel well covers to run air through the wheel housing to cool rotors and pads. Both sides should have them. Also used to force air through and around the car for aerodynamics as well. Hope that clears it up.

Yup! That's an awesome link too, thanks! I found a pretty good guide on the mustang forums as well.

I just need to find someone good at fabricating/welding for the brake shield.

I agree with u all, these cars are advertised though with having 4 ventilated disc brakes, as u can see about mid way down
http://www.edmunds.com/nissan/maxima/2009/road-test-specs.html

I'm not trying to stir anything up here, just curious why it's advertised if there's no function or is there a difference between a ventilated disc and the function of these brake ducts?

Ventilated discs means double thickness, with vanes in the middle, vs solid discs (usually on the rear).
