Finally Ditched the Stock Battery

Many have had problems with the weak stock battery that Nissan puts in our 7th gens, myself included. My battery died the SECOND DAY I got it! It hasn't given me too much of a problem since then other than struggling to start after a 3-day vacation.

I had been looking for an Optima Yellowtop since those were the best recommended here. Checking the prices, I was reluctant to drop $230 bucks on a battery. Advance Auto Parts had a 15% off code online so I figured with that and the military discount that many vendors grant, it would bring the price down to a more acceptable range. Only problem was that I couldn't find any info about a military discount on their website. I clicked on the little annoying pop-up asking to chat with a customer service rep to ask about it directly. The guy said that they don't offer a military discount online. But he said he had another code and to try it.

TRT30

It's a 30% off code with a max of $50 off. Wooohooo! Not sure if there's an expiration date on it but it dropped the Yellowtop down to $180 with no core charge. My local store had it in stock and I went right over and scooped it up. I dropped off my old battery and since I wasn't charged a core, they gave me a $5 store credit to boot.

Looking forward to hassle-free starts from here on out. Hooray for Optima and Advance Auto Parts!!!

Glad to hear that. Optima batteries are all I use. I have a red top under the hood and a yellow top in the trunk for my system.

All I run is Optima red tops!! Not sure Id run the yellow for starting. The yellow is a deep cycle battery, for large stereos, tow cable motors ect.

I replaced mine after it went dead in the driveway at about 4.5 years old. 90 bucks I believe I paid for replacement.

Thanks for the info. The yellow top is actually recommended for both starting and deep cycle. I thought about going with the red and saving 30 bucks but I'm going to eventually upgrade the stereo with some subs.
