Jig's Super Black Beauty

I've been a member on this forum since I bought my 2010 Super Black SV back in November (2012). Gotten tons of ideas from all y'all, been schemin' and plottin' the way I want her to look. No where close to finished ... but I got few mods done.

These are the first pics of my ride that I'm posting

Here are some (relatively) stock photos to get started ... more to come.

I work in Worcester. I'm frequently in Tewksbury, Malden, and Melrose. And I'm always going to Portsmouth/Dover/Rochester (NH).

Over a hundred views, one reply. Tough crowd. Here's a couple more.

TINT ... the first thing I did when I got the car.

This was taken on a cloudy day. Sorry it's so grainy, but I think it shows how dark 35% can look.

Very nice! I don't have anything to add except I didn't like black cars until I saw the Maxima in this colour. It looks mean.

Nice Jig. Been good having you in these forums. Glad to see a thread up for your ride, go ahead and be selfish in it. Tell us all about your car and post your pics and everything. Throw out your whole mod list and future mod list, and come back and post pics here as you add things. I think it's fun to see people's progression. (Been thinking about starting one up for my car.) So ya bro, more pics! More info! Fill us in!

Thanks. I was actually leaning more towards getting a Winter Frost. My girlfriend convinced me to look at the Super Black. It looked super mean on the lot and the deal was much better than any of the whites I was looking at.

Thanks for the good vibes. I've already got a few mods done to the car. I'll post more pics over the next few days. Definitely agree with you about progression ... that's why I wanted to start with some stock photos and add to those.

Start your thread!

Lou's in N. Reading --> these guys are awesome!

Cat-back system is from AAM Competition ... pricey, but highly worth it

One of the funniest comments I've gotten about my car came from my 75 year old next door neighbor. She was talking to my uncle one day and said she could recommend a good exhaust shop to fix my car. She either hears me fire it up in the morning or hears me driving by when I leave for work. My uncle explained to her that it sounds like that by design.

Personally, I don't think it's very loud at all. There is a huge difference from the stock system though, but it's not obnoxious like systems on many other import cars. Coming from a V6, it's got a nice low-pitched rumble at idle. Exactly what I was looking for.

Cruising at highway speed there is more drone than I expected but I've experienced worse. You can still hold a conversation or listen to the radio at normal levels. Increasing RPMs to 2500-4000 and the exhaust comes alive, but surprisingly it's not as loud as I expected.

I had the opportunity to follow my car for a couple hours in a UHaul truck a few weeks ago and the system looks BOSS! You can see those pipes over a hundred feet away. Gives the rear of the car a whole new look.

Love it!

Last weekend I finished up a whole bunch of other mods. When I got home Sunday night, my girlfriend told me how hot the car looked. But, she said of all the things that I've done to the car so far the exhaust was her favorite.

As of right now, I'd agree.

I wish AAM made more products for our cars!

Good work on documenting your progress Jig.

I'm itching to get my AAM installed also, but it is just finding time. I really don't want to take a day off work to get it done (don't want to loose that days income from work..lol ), but at this pint I may have to.

Curious on how much of a drone it will give, I'm so use to the quietness the max give when driving, but when you give it a little, she roars to life. lol..

Thanks man!

I ended up taking a Friday off in late March to get this installed. I could have dropped the car off at the shop and picked it up later, but I really wanted to see the exhaust being installed and couldn't wait to fire it up.

After driving for more than a month with it installed I very rarely notice the drone and again, it's not overpowering. Even when you step on it, it doesn't get that loud.

Its always a good feeling especially when your girl approves of the work you have done to your car... I just installed coilovers last week (prior to the AAM meet that I drove down to) and my girl noticed the difference right away... "You lowered the car more?!? It looks amazing!!"

I wish AAM did more products for the 7th gen. I would love to see them do a Y-pipe so that I dont have to go buy a racingline one haha

I need a shop to install exhaust from AAM on my car, as I have the Racingline y-pipe, and not sure how well it will go. I've asked in the previous post what sort of "adjustments" and so forth with guys with AAM and Raceingline ypipe and not much has been said. I'm a little concerned about how much hacking they have to do to make it fit properly.

Hey 2themax11,

Yeah I got the Titantium tips with the order, they threw them in for "free" lol. I laugh at free because nothing is free in life..lol..
Not sure how it is going to look, as I'm seeing the regular tips you guys have on your whips and the cleaner look is more appealing.

I said this in previous post, since I picked up the box last December, it has been sitting in my living room ever since, hopefully I can take a day off next week. Look like it it a May 2/4 weekend so I probably take the Friday off to get it done.

Yeah, definitely find a reputable shop to install this system. This is not a DIY project (unless you've got a lift and some experience). The fit is super tight and there is NOT a lot of wiggle room.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about the RL y-pipe fitting. My understanding is that the AAM - RL fitment issue was isolated to one car. In the future, I am planning on buying one and will just have the same guys that did the AAM install do the y-pipe install.

As long as you find a shop comfortable doing it I think you're good.

edit - Ghozt posted some new info on the AAM - RL fitment issue

Yeah, I have a shop that can do it. They did the exhaust for my Monte Carlo year back and they were good.
