Question Finally Getting New Tires..Which Ones?

Okay..Well My tires are officially balder than bald. I am still undecided on which tires to get..so I figured I'd ask for some feedback.

I have 4 That I am looking at:

1) Goodyear Eagle GTs - Ultra High Performance All Season
2) Hankook Ventus V4s - Ultra High Performance All Season
3) Bridgestone Potenzas RE970AS Pole Position - Ultra High Performance All Season
4) Continental ExtremeContact DWS - Ultra High Performance All Season

I don't go out in the snow really..and If I do its when there is only 2-3inches of snow on the ground. I need a tire that is going to hold me for another year or so until the New Maxima or Nismo Comes out because I am going to switch whips. I like to gun it..who doesn't? lol.

So, Which tires do you guys recommend? Price Doesn't Matter..Safety does though.

Sears has the GTs in stock..but I am leaning towards the Potenzas or Hankooks now after calling a few shops..unfortunately, no one has them in stock o.O

Thank you..so much for letting me know that. I'll have to rethink that over. Knowing how fast I go..I don't want to be on the front of the Newspaper. Yeah I am waiting for the new Z to come out..and I'll be getting that. My credit is great lol! But, if that New Maxima is better looking than the new Z..It's going to be a debate for sure.

Let me check out these Continentals.

Asking this question will just get you a bunch of opinions. You need to get unbiased testing results from places like tirerack.com and consumers reports. With tirerack you put in the factors that are important to you and you will get a list of tires that meet your needs. You may find that the Michelin primacy MXV4 which I had on 2 cars and liked a lot rank very highly.

I had been leaning towards the Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS Pole Position partially based on Tire Racks testing results and user reviews. The only glaring issue these tires seem to have is a decrease in gas mileage compared to the other 3 tires Tire Rack tested. The jury is still out for me and I still have time before I really need to replace.

I just got the Continental DWS's on my Rays and they are great. Good road feel and quiet as hell. But yeah do your research on Tirerack and then decide whats best for you.

I had some really bad experiences of tread separation on the Potenzas. Multiple tires failed over two years.
The michelin mxv4 tires are really long lasting and quiet, but suck for traction overall.
I am currently using the DWS with no complaints.

DWS so far and have been very happy with both performance and traction in wet conditions (never got to see snow with them). I have about 40k miles on this set and they should last to their 50k "warranty". I will most likely replace them with these. The only switch I might make is for the Michelin Primacy's (however now reconsidering since MaximaDrvr said overall traction sucks).

The current issue of Consumers Reports rates for all season tires the Continental pure contact the highest followed by the Michelin MXMV4. The Michelin, however has longer tread life.

Look in the ULTRA high performance tire category...the ones you listed are not the ultra high performance...this is where the OP is looking

Pirelli P Zero Nero All Season *
Cooper Zeon RS3-A
Sumitomo HTR A/S PO1

^^ are tied for first, with a CR score of 82.
Pirellis have a 45K treadwear warranty
Coopers have no treadwear warranty
Sumitomos have a 40K treadwear warranty

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus
Yokohama Avid ENVigor
Continental Extreme Contact DWS

^^ are tied for second, with a CR score of 80.
The Yokos have no treadwar warranty though
Conti treadwear warranty is 50K
Michelin's treadwear warranty is 45K.

The Contis have the best treadwear warranty.

I like to couple consumer reports with tirerack reviews, especially since you can filter tirerack review by car make, so you can get real-world reveiw from maxima drivers.

I am uncertain if you got your tires yet but I would like to suggest the Vredestein Sessantas. I used them on my 6th gen before I traded it in last week. They are great for wet and dry situations and look good. The only thing is they are a little pricy in my opinion but they last, look good, and are speed rated.. I found some on eBay if you wanted to see them.

Conti DWS, although they tend to get noisy as they get older, they are the best value if you aren't looking to spend michelin money

I asked my tire guy..and he recommended me the Sumitomos..and Honestly so far so good. Very quiet tire..nice traction (even though I havent hit the 200 mile sweet spot yet). I had them on my s2000 and they haven't failed me in that car. So I will doubt they will fail me on the Maxima!

I had #4 on my 2004 Maxima and loved them. Soft smooth ride and they handled the rain and snow a million times better then the Eagle RSA crap they put on these cars. I will definitely be putting the Conti DWS on my 2012 when the time comes.

I agree with the posts in favor of the Nitto Motivos. I put them on my 2009 Civic Si several months before I traded it in for the Max. I'm definitely going to go with them again when its time. Great grip in wet and dry conditions.
