Urgent Question - Had my stock 19 rims & tires stolen this morning :(

I have the 2010 Maxima SV Sport. Rims and tires were stolen overnight.

Urgent question - is it possible for me to downgrade my wheels from the stock 19's to stock 18's? Local dealership is telling me that downgrading isn't possible, and that I have to stick with 19's.

I was actually looking to downgrade my rims since the 19 Sports were too flashy. Now that this incident happened, this has served as more of an incentive to downgrade.

I don't see how downgrading is not possible?

Sorry to hear that... However file the police report get your insurance to cut you or the body shop the check, and get some rims you like, for the price of new 19's with tires you can get a nice set of 20' s and have a few hundred left in your pocket... When they stole my gunmetal 18's off of my 2003 SE parked on Winthrop and Troy Aves in Brooklyn, that's what I did... Came up on some 20's and got a Viper Alarm installed with extra bread...
Don't go get 18's not to targeted again, that's allowing fear to control the choices we make... If you don't want rims, get the 19's again and a pair of wheel locks from dealer for 50 bucks...
Sometimes you have to take a step backward, to take 3 forward... Every obstacle is an opportunity....

That's one of the nicest things that I've heard in any otherwise crappy day.

To be quite honest, I was looking to downgrade the rims since I wanted to detract attention and also maintain future tire costs. Tire costs are also much more reasonable in the 18's than they are at 19's.

That said, it's possible to downgrade the rims from 19's to 18's, right? People do it all the time during the Winter. Why would the dealership tell me that it's not possible?

18's fit... However they "technically" are supposed to replace what came on the car through insurance... If they buy you the 18's.. They most likely wont give you the difference... If you really want 18's( still can't fathom why... Lol, but to each their own) check the forums classified, some one is always looking to get rid of a set, no matter what you choose... Get a set of wheel locks... You would be surprised how many factory wheels people have with no locks... Not to use you as an example but I hope everyone else heeds your situation... 50$ is not too much to spare the aggravation...
Anyway good luck kiddo...

I think gotfunk... Has a set up for sale right now...in the classified section send him a PM and put that extra insurance money in your pocket... - my 3% of course...lol

Thank you - yes, wheel locks are definitely on my to-buy list now. However, even the best locks (e.g. Gorilla) simply "time" deterrents in a sense that a skilled car thief would still be able to steal the rims/tires, but that it would simply take the thief longer to do so?

Also, would there be any problems with ABS, TMPS, or any of that jazz, by going down to the 18's?

Amazon Amazon
or
http://www.sfxperformance.com/parts/GOR63621.htm

Amazon if you have Amazon Prime though. I have these, and you will need two washers to fit the 2012 sport 19inch wheels though. The ones included are not thick enough to match the stock specs, so I used both the included ones and ones from either Autozone or Advance Auto Parts to match make up the difference.

Aw, thank you. I am looking to get this done today, unfortunately, unless you are in the southern Connecticut area.

Does anyone know a quick place in Connecticut for me to go and buy Rims (e.g. a parts vendor/yard) that will give me an actual receipt? Local dealership says they have to order them - which will take a few days.

I went through insurance and am waiting for an appraiser to schedule the appointment. I don't know if the appraiser will let me purchase through Craigslist/Maxima.org, haha.

By the way. Since I got vossen wheels I was scared about theft but I got them covered by insurance for only a few extra bucks a month. I kinda sorta lied about how much the wheels and tires cost so if they do get stolen ill get a fat check. Definitely worth it and takes alot of the worry away. Geico didn't ask for a receipt or anything

The day I bought my Maxima with the 19" wheels I had the dealer install the wheels locks. I know the insurance covers the cost but the hassle of being W/O wheels for a few days was worth the $50.

Where are you in CT? I want to make sure I stay away from that area.

I third this idea ^^^ If you were on island, I'd swap with you (Though I love the look of the 18s).

Sorry to hear about your rims getting stolen =/

Agreed. Get the 19's, and if you ask around for a short period of time I'm sure you'll find someone on these forums who will drive to you, and swap you their 18's for your 19's, and they'd pay you a few hundred bucks to boot. The 19's are definitely more desirable. I'd LOVE to find someone to swap my 18's for 19's.

And sorry about getting them stolen. That really really sucks.

I'll swap my 18's for your 19's. I have 4500 miles on the set. And I'm in Jersey.

PM me if you are interested.

Even better as the 12+ 18inchers look much better than the 09-11 ones.
