Jarohnimo - I plan to install it myself with a friend. Can use an extra set of hands 'cause I don't want to scratch it! I know ****... but scratched titanium tips would **** me off. Install should be fairly straight forward. Hopefully it's a true bolt-on with no modifications necessary... but you know how that goes. I think the hardest part is removing the bolts on the factory exhaust. We shall see. I will post comments when it's time. Yes I did place an order about a month ago. But they did not run my card until they shipped it. And they shipped it TODAY!
J.lee - I would hurry if you are serious about purchasing. I think there is only 1 more selling for $925.

New AAM Catback!!!
This is my review of the AAM Competition exhaust for our 7th gen Max. My overall experience with AAM was good to great. Although fabrication of the exhaust took longer than expected, they did not charge me until the exhaust was shipped. As for the shipping... I must say I was a little disappointed with the packaging. The cardboard box they used was pretty flimsy and arrived banged up. Maybe it was UPS but I think the box could have been more sturdy. Ok, no big deal. I unpacked the exhaust. I must say that the quality is spot on. The materials they used are definitely worth the price. The bends in the pipe are fluid. The welds are perfect. Definitely attention to detail here. Even the hangars were solid quality material (1/4" thick!) and were welded on nicely. I'll get to that more in a little bit.
Installation... what should have taken an hour took over three! I installed it with the help of a friend. Removing the stock exhaust was pretty painless. Once we figured out the proper angle of the mid-pipe, everything bolted into place. I must say that even AAM's bolts, nuts, and gaskets were quality products as well. But no matter how many times we tried to line up the mufflers/tips, they wouldn't sit straight. We unbolted, bolted, realigned it so many times, but they were off center. The right muffler/tip was over 1/2" lower than the left, and the left muffler and tip were angled up and to the left. For someone like me that was totally unacceptable.
We even tried heating the hangars (with a small propane torch) to bend them down an inch. Those hangars are damn thick!
We got them to move a little, but they were still hanging way too low. You can barely tell in these pictures... I may be ****, but it was completely noticeable to everyone. Next step... to the muffler shop.
My buddy owns a Meineke in Redwood City, Ca. He commented on the quality of the system... just the fitment was a problem. He tried heating the pipes and bending them manually using a crowbar for leverage.
It improved somewhat. But heating the steel actually elongated them. Really. The edge of the muffler was now hitting a small metal bracket. He told me I would have lots of vibration in the cabin. Shoot me now. Buddy told me he could cut the pipes, realign them and weld them. To my surprise, two seconds later he took a sawzall to my new exhaust system!
Holy crap. In the end he did his magic and got everything to line up. All the welds were solid, no leaks. It cost me $90. Not too bad.
I'm curious to hear if other people had similar fitment issues. I must say however, that I have the Racingline Y-pipe... but I was told the exhaust would bolt right up. Now all of this aside, lets talk about the sound.
One word... WOW! It has a DEEP low rumble. I can't even begin to describe it. It sounds amazing. Definitely a head turner in the best possible way. Even the guys at the muffler shop were impressed. I definitely am 100% happy with the finished product. It took some effort, but in the end I got exactly what I wanted. I may be the only one with the fitment issues, since I'm the first production AAM exhaust. Let's see what others have to say.
Video update soon. I want you guys to hear this!

You're definitely right Ghozt! Amazing sound. I think my raciline y-pipe adds to it... very deep low rumble.
Promise to post vids soon. All in all very happy with the exhaust. Maybe my fitment issues were a fluke. But very good quality, excellent worksmanship. Thanks AAM!

Congrats, Thank you for your review.
I assume there is a break in time for the exhaust, but is there any type of drone or cabin noise you can hear when on the highway or on low rpm driving around in your local city/town ?

I must stay those Titanium tips are looking sexy..lol on your whip.
I wonder, if possible what dual tips would look like on our cars ?
I don't mind paying what they are asking for but from what I'm hearing their MSRP is going to raise up alot more after they figure out what the cost and their profits are going to be.

For now they are removing it from the website and if they work the cost and labor out it may come back up for sale or maybe not. If it does it will be like $1200.00+ or so. Like you said previously they are small shop and they cannot compete with the large guys like Borla, Magnaflow etc etc so their cost are a lot more. The impression I got from the emails is that it is 50/50 = pretty much on hold at this point or maybe they will not mass produce this and that would be S.O.L for the rest of people.
I'm here an Canada and would have love to get one of these on my car, I tried but the guy from AAM was not budging on selling a 7th set to me. I respect their wishes and hopefully their new revamp pricing is not way out there.

Hello.
Any chance you can get some vid of it while your driving ? IE inside cabin noise and possible external sound.
To be honest just reviving up the engine in park it does not give alot of accurate sound, you will get ot hear the exhaust system better while it is under pressure etc etc.
Thank You

it is I believe, retail price is in the $1300-1400 range. everyone who has seen this in person can testify to the quality of the parts; you cannot really compare this to Stillen/Borla/Megan/etc because these are bigger pipes (the whole way back, not just tips) and have exceptional craftsmanship. as you know this company primarily works with GT-R's, so think of it like this: GT-R quality parts for the Maxima.

Looks sick for sure, I was ready to pull the trigger on this exhaust but the timing wasn't great since winter is now in full effect here in MN, Planning on getting it this spring but would still really like to hear some sound clips!

Yes i have the AAM exhaust. I've had it on for a year now and it sound great, though it does have some drone to it at certain speeds, but it is bearable for me, but not certain passengers (females). lol
Not sure about the Intake, situation.

Most folks love their AAM but now Motordyne makes a catback for the 7th gen which is getting a good amount of attention.
Lastly, the rear swaybar should most certainly be upgraded. It's probably the best dollar for dollar mod for the car. Do it ASAP! (I have the racingline swaybar and I love it!)
