From the 2011 owner's manual:

NOTE:
If the outside mirror control switch is in the
neutral position, neither mirror will turn
downward when the shift selector is moved
to R (Reverse).
Move the shift selector to R (Reverse). Both
mirrors will turn downward.
The mirror surfaces will return to their original
position when any of the following have occurred:
● The shift selector is moved to any position
other than R (Reverse).
● The outside mirror control switch is set to the
neutral or center position.
● The ignition switch is placed in the OFF
position.
Is the mirror switch in Neutral?

Mine was worse, I had just signed the bill of sale and went to pick up my friends and was showing them all of the sweet features and I couldn't make the auto tilt down work! Ahhh, had to pull out the book to show them :-/ lol
