Need extended warranty for my used maxima
Hi,
I have a 2010 SV Maxima with 31xxx miles still under warranty but running out soon. I want to get an extended warranty. Called my local sheehy dealer but their qoute was high ($1398 for 6yr/72000k) . I am looking for a 100k warranty or similar. Dealer says that price goes up based on your current mileage even though its under warranty.
Please let me know any recommendations as far as warranty prices / dealers.
thanks

I got my extended warranty when i bought the car from the dealer 72 months / 100,000 miles.. first I turned it down then they came back with basically 50% less than what they originally quoted me I got it for $995.00 and it covers everything in the car from bumper to bumper.

Not sure why you feel need extended warranty. They are widely considered a waste of money by consumer organizations.
I'm on my 7th Nissan (1 Altima, 4 Maximas, 1 Pick-up, 1 Frontier) and never had extended warranty - and glad I didn't spend the money.
Whatever you decide - good luck!!

Just an FYI for those considering the extended warranty.
Nissan did away with the $50 deductible. Its now $100.
Price DOES NOT increase as your mileage goes up as long as you are under 36,000 but there is a small fee if you pass 11,999 miles ($100).
The New car warranty is available as long as you are under 36,000 miles 3 years.
After 3 yr 36,000 miles you can get the used car coverage. The only difference seems to be price (its a few hundred more) and the coverage starts when you buy the warranty, not when your car was put into service. For example. If you buy the 48 ml X 48 mo warranty, its added to your current mileage and year. So if you have 40,000 miles on your car and buy the 48x48, you're covered to 88,000 miles or 4 years.

I usually am of the mindset myself that the extended warranties are a waste of money, however this time around I have been considering it. I already have 12k miles on the 11' that I purchased in February of 12' and expect to put over 20k miles a year on it.
So I was thinking something like 60 months for 120k miles may make sense for me.
I found this one dealer site that will give you a quote online, but I am sure that there are other dealers that you can purchase from online as well and shop different quotes.

Here's another that does online quotes. Useful for bargaining when you visit your local dealer.
