I doubt the leasing inspector would notice this or consider it damage. I personally don't care - I took my "MAXIMA" off (and it's a lease). Not sure I like it with the Nissan Logo gone...

Just run a hair dryer over the letters for a minute or two and that will soften the tape behind them. Then use fishing line (dental floss works too...) to separate the letters from the car and peel them right off. There will be some tape residue left behind that you can remove by applying sticker removal spray on it and peel off by hand. Apply a little wax to the area after you're done and you're good to go. I removed the MAXIMA letters but left the burger on there and it looks much cleaner. Hope this helps...

What you need:
1. Hair dryer
2. Plastic spatula or plastic knife or fishing line
3. goo-gone
4. soap and water
5. polish
6. wax
Heat up the emblems with a hair dryer for a few minutes. Be careful not to get to close because you don't want to harm the paint. Afterwards, use one of the tools listed above and start working on the emblem to loosen it up from one end to the other.
Heat it up again for a few more minutes if it's giving you a hard time. Continue to do this until the emblem is off. *Be careful not to scratch your paint up in the process* If your using fishing line. Start with a sawing motion on one of the of the emblem and work your way through it.
You can clean the remaining adhesive off with goo gone (can be found at autozone). Use some soap and water to immediately clean it off and dry it with a terry cloth. Or else it'll damage the paint. Once your done with that then use some polish and wax to protect the paint since it's exposed to the elements now.

Use a blowdryer next time it really softens that sticky stuff. I just heated it up and then rolled it off with my fingers. Took some effort but definitely kept the paint safe and didn't need to wax/buff the area afterwards - looked perfect with just a wipe down of some no rinse car wash.
