Hello everyone,

My 2009 SV+Sport max has developed a slight leather problem and I'd like to hear your feedback on how/if this can be fixed. I suspect that my wallet being in my right back pocket to/from work is the cause of this. The raised bump has persisted now for about 3 weeks without my wallet being in my back pocket and I'm getting a little worried that it will never go away.

you probably just dented the padding of the seat right there maybe some heat might tighten that "bump" up a little

Actually it looks like the leather has stretched a little bit, with no weight on it, it bumps up. I doubt there's much you can do without contacting an upholsterer...

As a side note, but in this case entirely relevent...how much do you weigh? If you're heavier than normal, consider this a warning to drop a few pounds, before the suspension starts giving you grief too...

In all seriousness, if you're over 200lb, extra wear on the seats should be expected...

If you are still under warranty, take your car in and have them evaluate it.

180lbs...so extra weight shouldn't be the problem. I find it hard to believe that I'm the only one this has happened to considering it really didn't take much.

maybe having your wallet in the same spot everyday, and setting on it, and pushing it into the seat has stretched the leather.

At least thats my opinion on the situation

I agree with your assessment, that's what I think happened too. Now, the question is, do you guys think this will be covered under warranty?

Take it to a reputable car detailer, they can shrink the leather with a heat gun. Also look in to getting one of these: http://www.bigskinny.net/

since its on the perforated section of the seat you can use a steam cleaner to 'shrink' the leather a bit. its more difficult on non-perforated leather. This is a delicate process, you need to be careful not to heat the leather too much and not to rub the leather once its been steamed as it may scar the leather. I've done it before on other cars and had success, not 100% mind you but a definite improvement.

Once you steam the section (for just about 5 - 10 seconds) use your thumbs to pull the leather apart. hold it firm for about a minute and blow on the leather to cool it down. u may have to do it a few times but just be sure not to heat the leather too much and let it cool down between each time you do it

I have the same issue in my car. In fact, the Altima I had before was known to have this same issue. Some people even have imprints of their rear end on the seat. I think the leather in the nissans are softer thus prone to it.

I have two dips in my leather seats, that represent my butt print. My weight is 135lbs.

When I first noticed this, I brought the car to the dealer and after some back and forth, Nissan corporate blessed the repair and I got a new seat cushion. The dips redeveloped in couple of days.

I guess I will have to live with it, as I must have a bony ***.

It is just something about how these seats are made and the under seat support system. My car will be going to the dealer again for defective seat heater and rocking seat frame. I will ask them to look into whats causing the dips in the leather while they have it all apart.

leather is covered with the warrenty you just have to fuss enough for the dealer to replace it

Thanks, good to know. My warranty expires in September, so I think I'll wait until Spring/early Summer to complain in case it gets worse.

I'd try and get it replaced under warranty before taking a heat gun to it.

I have that in my 09, was the same in my 06 I just keep the seats well conditioned, it's actually right were your ischial tuberosity is, the bone that you sit on

Nissan does use soft leather, and it's going to stretch. I don't drive with my wallet in my back pocket. After almost a year in this car, don't have that issue at all. I'm also very generous when it comes to applying Zaino leather cleaner and conditioner, so that might be helping.

I'm 6'5" and 250lbs, so weight aint the issue... it's that big wallet some of ya'll carry with money stacks in there
