I found a much cheaper alternative than buying a new 2011 grille. I blacked out my grille just like the 2011 with black vinyl tape. Can't beat it for 3 bucks!

talking about grills i wanted to get a custom grill but i dont want to drill holes or anything. can anyone can help me deside a grill and something that can pop in just like an oem grill install without any aftermarket procedures.

Hey. The vinyl tape I used is 3M Electrical Vinyl tape. Bought it from home depot. Make sure the tape says "vinyl" on it and its a name brand (3M).

Overall I'm very pleased with the tape. It's been on for 3 months in the rain, sleet, and 90 degree weather with no fading or peeling. As long as you get quality vinyl electrical tape and apply it correctly, it'll look awesome. And of course it cost me like 3 dollars

The tape looks good and makes alot of sense. Putting a 2011 grill in makes me wonder why anyone incur that kind of cost for no real benefit.

I don't care for chrome at all in the grille area. I have a 2012 Sport and am quite happy not to have chromed out grille lines. That being said, I wish it was darker...I am contemplating plasti-dip to make it darker.

Even the outline of the grille is chrome, so that would also get plasti-dipped.

Is this easier to do than to paint your existing one? Or are you wanting to have a dark one and a chrome one?

Or does paint stick better to the 2012 dark grille better than the chrome of the older ones?
