The Nissan Maxima in Australia

The first-generation Teana was sold under the name of Nissan Cefiro in Hong Kong, Singapore, Brunei, Latin America & Caribbean, while it was sold under the name of Teana in Japan, Thailand, Philippines, India, Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia & China. The car is known as the Maxima in Australia & New Zealand, and Altima in North America. The J32 will be sold in Australia as a Maxima from June 2009 with model designations of 250 ST-L, 350 ST-S and 350Ti. The Cefiro name has been discontinued on the second-generation line. Currently, it is unknown if the new Teana will continue to be sold as the Nissan Maxima in the other markets outside of North America, excluding Australia. But they still have only the CVT everywhere its sold.

I like my body style better, headlights on the US Market one are more unique. Those on the Teana would probably fit on an Accord. I like the steering wheel tho!

If you read the article, you would see that it IS an Altima

"The car is known as the Maxima in Australia & New Zealand, and Altima in North America."

The point behind the thread was, "look what these poor people get for a maxima". It does look interesting with the maxima badge and different rear end and its somthing I've never seen before but it doesn't come close to our north American dead sexy 7th gen REAL MAXIMA that's for sure. How lucky we are to get the read deal holyfield and not some altima rip off. It looks close to the altima kinda like the 6th gen did.

The artical is interesting to see how another country reviews this "Nissan maxima" compaired to how some of these biast writers in America have reviewed our 7th gen.

Another interesting part was to read how even over there it is the CVT and only the CVT that is offered in the car. It shows that it is what is to come in the future and not just a north American thing.

Nissan should be ashamed to call that car a Maxima (no matter what country it is in). It looks like a Toyota Avalon (which I hate). I DO NOT LIKE IT AT ALL!!!!

It is always interesting to see the JDM versions. Thanks for the pics. It looks like quite the culmination of few different cars into one. I see Camry, Altima, and a bit of G35 thrown in for flavour.

That's pretty hideous, I have never really liked any generation of the Australian Maxima. Yuck.

I'm 100% sure that if Nissan hadn't chosen to completely overhaul the Maxima's look, this is what we would've gotten!

That would have been a travesty if that thing made it to production as the North American/Middle Eastern Maxima, and it would not be nearly as popular as it is now with that look. It looks less sporty than the Maxima's we are accustomed to and even more bloated looking than the 6th gen !

That definitely looks like what the love child would be if the 7th Gen Maxima had sloppy/dirty sex with the 4th Gen Altima during a one night stand.

That thing should be taken out back and shot!

Thank God that did not make its way here or I would have had to do this !

Nice with putting the LED's in the interior! I bought white LEDs for the trunk light and rear lic plate lights and they have worked and looked fantastic!

Suffice it to say, I was disappointed to see that the new M didn't come with interior and exterior white LED lights!

Why can't Nissan and Infiniti start putting this in as standard like Lexus, BMW, MB, and Audi does? Would really look nice! The ones I got for the rear lic plate look just like the Lexus ones! I would do the interior but that would cost over 100 bucks to do and I don't want to spend that kind of money on light bulbs
!! All power to you if you do though, I think it would look great!!

I was just checking out the Accessories on the Nissan of Australia site and they have a whole slew of them for the Maxima.
In particular I want the bootlip protector. I bought one from Honda of Australia when I had my Accord and I love it. I put it in the Max too but I need one that says Nissan and not Honda. lol

Check out the stuff on there... interesting.

Actually I haven't bought them yet but I did my Accord up with all LED's. For the trunk, license plate, map lights, dome lights, door lights it came out to around $50. The bulbs in the Maxima are actually cheaper because they are all 194's (I think that's the number - off the top of my head) I can't wait to do the Maxima!

Well, I'm not sure where you buy from, but I only shop and buy from VLEDs because I have had such good luck with their products. For both my TL, and actually the Maxima has two more interior halogens then my TL has, to get all white LED bulbs for the entire interior, with shipping and handling, it was over 100 bucks. I'm more than happy with what I did with the trunk and rear lic plate lights! The white LED I put into the trunk is amazing. It was so much better than the OEM halogen crap in there. With the LED, the entire trunk is illuminated at night now and its a much more clear light to see what your doing and where you can put things! Car makers should be making these standard at this point by now! Halogen is so like the 1990s!

Funny to me it looks like a marriage between the 6th Gen and the Altima.

I dunno, thats a tuff one; the 6th Gen Maxima didn't have those tail-lights though, those definitely look 7th Gen in Origin, especially with the LEDs they have there, plus the rear end doesn't look as bloated out as the 6th Gen Maxima was back there!

Personally, I think it has much more 4th Gen Altima design cues and feature then it does either the 7th or 6th Gen Maxima!

The North American 7th gen Maxima is a MUCH nicer car on the outside hands down(when compared to the 350Ti/Teana) but that Teana interior is classy!

Would have never bought the 7th gen if it looked like the above Maxima sold in Australia. BTW, I think it looks like a Chevy Caprice from the profile.

Actually like the imported Maximas. They look good, it's pretty much a cross between a max and an infinity g37 IMO
