resale value in the pooper?
So I have an 09 premium w/o tech.
sticker was 37k and change.
trade in price on kbb excellent condition 25k!
wtf!
yeah, i know depreciation is worst in the first year... but come on! If you look at the retail value if I was to buy my car it would be 30k. I could deal with that. Ouch!

This is one of the reasons I would rather lease than buy. If you like to change cars every few years, purchasing is a losing proposition. I'm not surprised at all when it comes to the rate of depreciation.

yeah, Nissan's def don't hold their value as some other brands but Nissan sure thinks they do; my buyout is terrible for my 2010 lease; have the same as you guys SV plus cold and tech package, msrp ~ 37.5k and my buyout after three years is 23k; no way this car is going to be worth that after three years with avg mileage put on the car; the buyout is so bad that if Nissan won't neogtiate at lease end I'll def be returning the car
the joke is the buyout on my previous Infiniti and Acura leases after 3 years on vehicles that had higher msrp then this Maxima had lower buyout prices then this!! shame on Nissan!!!

My salesperson has always given me very reasonable trade-in prices on my Maximas (always in cream puff condition). She gave me $14K for my 4 2/3 year old '04 SL back in January. I had paid $28K for it new. I told her what I would take for my '04, and what I would pay for my '09 (below invoice), and, having dealt with me for over a decade, she knew I had done my homework, so, after just a month or so of friendly 'back-and-forth', she agreed to my offer.

What a waste of a thread. I bought my car at $40K CAD and with 11000km on the odo it is now worth ~$30k CAD. I am far from suprised about this. If you bought this car expecting anything less you should have done some homework before your purchase not after. Research is your friend.

Wow!! Regardless of what anyone says, if i paid like 35K for a car and if I see the price drop to like 25K in less than a year, then I would be depressed.
Anyways, I paid like $27,100 for my Maxima S. It has roughly like 2500 miles. According to KBB, the trade-in value of my car in excellent condition is $27,000. Are we using the same method to evaluate the re-sale value. Am I missing something here? I dont think it makes a whole lot of sense that S model is holding its value better than the Prem and other models or maybe it does. What do i know...
