I just Purchased a fully loaaed 2011 Nissan Maxima. im looking to put HIDs on the headlights and fog lights. i went to sylvania and looked up what the bulbs are and it saids d2s. but i cant find any bulbs on it. is it a d2s? im looking to get the 8,000 k (kinda like a crystal ball, 75% blue 25%white) any help would be appreciated. i want to do the installation myself, i previously had a sentra and bought 8,000 k hid kits. but when im looking at these d2s kits, it looks like its only a bulb and not a ballast? any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yes IF your max is FULLY loaded then you only need d2s bulbs because it already has HID's.

Alright..my turn. For the halogen headlights, just want to know if there is a dust cover behind the bulbs that needs to be drilled like my 6th gen?
I have not had the chance to get under there and see...

no covers at all, I cannot believe with over 1000's of HID postings that nobody has mentioned this. absolutely ridiculous.

it's actually very simple to change to hid on a35 maxima, just take apart one fender liner clip and reach your hands in there. It's very close to the fender liner so u don't have to reach far at all.

run the balasts wiring to ABOVE the fender liners and on top of the engine bay...mount balasts around the radiator support area.

You do realize with 8K/10K color bulbs you will be loosing quite a bit of driving light if not making the car just about not drivable at night?

Still deciding which hid kits to get for low beam and fog... DDM ($45) vs Notto ($99) vs Xenondepot ($199) DDM has life time warranty but their bulbs are cheap chinese made non uv-coated thus possible damaging your housing.. Notto has decent quality with 1 year warranty but not sure their bulbs origin . Xenondepot is expensive but they have rebased philips bulbs that uv-coated thus minimizing housing damage and 3 year warranty.

Any suggestions?

After much delay, I took the chance and bought two sets of 35W H11 hid kits from DDM tuning for about 110 shipped. I got 5000k for the lows and 3000k for the fogs.. I'll let you guys know how it goes after installation.

Hey all, I just installed my 6000k kit for the fogs and only had to remove a few clips on the lower cover to easily get at the bulbs. As for the lows I was trying to install 6000k d2s and I turned the wheel and it wad really difficult... I might get someone to do it...

Im looking at buying some DDM hid kits, was thinking about getting the 55w for my lows. is the 55w safe for the housing, or should i just get the 35w to be on the safe side?

You don't need 55w. 35w is more than enough

Just installed hid kit from carid.com 10k, didn't remove wheel at all just pulled splash guard back. Driver side is much easier, will postpics of ballast mounts. Has anyone installed capacitor harness and the relay harness??? It says that it's just for higher end vehicles Benz. Etc. Took me about 30 mins, will install relay harness once I receive a replacement. Loose connection was the problem

Just installed two ddmtuning hid kits, 5000k lowbeams and 3000k foglights. A lot easier than I thought it was going to be, hardest part was choosing where to mount the ballasts. I didn't need a jack or to take the wheels off, just did what others told to do and turned the wheels to the opposite side and pulled the guards back. Should have done this mod sooner!

Can you adjust the distance the light illuminates? Do you have to rotate the bulbs in the projector? I purchased the same kit and bulbs and if I'm behind a car the light barely touches the license plate. Help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks a lot, so you just simply raise it from the back where you install the bulb?

Does anybody know what Kelvin combo will match the headlights and fogs the best on a 2011 SV? I have 6000k in both right now and my fogs look more blue compared to the headlights. I always use 6000k on my cars but for some reason on the max they don't match. Any suggestions?

Fdn, if you didn't purchase the bulbs from the same mfr, that may be your problem. If that is not the case, then maybe they sent you a set of 8k's with the wrong packaging..
I'm the same way though, matching light color is a must on mine.

Yeah they are identical kits from the same manufacturer. They are definitely the same Kelvin because I had these same kits in my old car(which also had projection headlights) and they matched to a tee. So Idk why they look completely different on the max. I wanna order new kits but I just don't know what Kelvin to go with so they match perfectly. I want the 6000k color from both so I'm stumped.

Unfortunately, I do not on my SV. I'm playing around with the LED fogs currently. Although, every other car I have owned have had HID's in both lows & fogs. I buy my kits through vvme.com and the colors have always matched. They're cheap, but i've never had any problems out of them. It's worth a shot buying another set of H11 bulbs just to see what happens..

Yup VVME is exactly who I plan on buying them through. I had them in my Durango a couple years ago and I LOVED them! I had the 55w 6000k in that and it looked amazing. Debating on doing the 55w kits in my Max but not suer if that is a little overkill. And if I do the regular 35w kits im not sure if I want to do the standard size ballasts or the slim kits. Idk which put out better light. What do you think?

It's HID's.. The standard kit puts out more than enough light. If you want to splurge, I personally would go with the Digital Slim kit. I heard somewhere that these have a longer life-span. Don't quote me on that though..

Guys,, I think I'm confused about HID / Xenon lights,, aren't all the little round grey'ish eyeball looking lights HID / Xenon? All the pics I see of stock Maxima's look the same, with the grey'ish eyeballs on the outside and the exposed bulb on the inside,, but this thread is saying the 'S' doesn't come with HID's. I have a 2010 S and the low beams look just like my friends BMW and his say Xenon right on the bezel.
And why are they low beams only? Our high beams are really nice and bright, but they are Halogen's right? My low beams don't seem like anything special, but when I hit my highs, they really light up the night. This is my first car with what I thought were HIDs,,, can someone please clarify this for me?

All 7th gen maxims have projector headlights. That's what your referring to. All maximas do not have xenon/hid though. The difference is the bulb, and I'm sure other things to the housing, but from the outside they look the same

I have a 2011 S, our cars do not come with HID/Xenon bulbs. Our car comes with Halogen bulbs, they have a yellowish hue. And when you say little round greyish eyeballs, I believe you are talking about the projector where the bulb is housed.
