Honestly speaking though, Stillen's set up looks better than this one. I was expecting to see more of the tube/intake itself and I thought the filter end would be closer to the front of the car than in the same area as our current intake.

I guess I was looking for this unit to be bringing in more cold air, I know it seals with the hood and all that but Stillen's design looks cleaner and more stock than this one does IMHO.

Ed form R2C mentioned that there are going to be discounts for the forum member for the limited period of time. Maybe it will overweight the group buy?

Please count me towards the group buy. Ed told me the price would be under $300. Will that be lower due to the Forum and/or group buy?

All In

Now I'll go ahead with the y-pipe purchase along with the R2C Mod. This should be it for Horsepower tweaks.

Got a reply back from ED and there is going to be no "Group Buy" but there will be a forum discount for those looking to buy which is good cause then a code should be able to be posted no problem for everyone to use and I don't see how that would effect forum rules so hag tight... I don't know any other information than that.

The sound is addicting guys. It's one of those things that you'd have to hear for yourself. I was grinning the whole way home after ED put it on. The response is also wicked and it just makes the car extremely fun to drive even under light load and ESPECIALLY under heavy throttle.

I had my dad drive it down the street and it sounded sick even down the street under light thottle.

I'd shoot a video, but it's not my car and I don't see my dad & the Maxima very often.

Um, no... This unit seals MUCH better than Stillen, MUCH better. The filter itself is also supremely superior.

some update guys.. i contact ED via email and heres his rely:

Thanks for your inquiry. We plan on offering three finish options including
polished and black powder coat as standard, and our premium, black nickel
option. I realize the tube is quite short but the black nickel will still
offer a deep luster that polishing can't match. It's been the most popular
finish option for all applicable Infiniti and Nissan applications to date.
Rather than a group buy, we'll offer the members a discounted price.

We're building small quantities in each finish until we determine owner
preferences. We can have all in ample inventories in a couple of weeks or
so. If owners/members can help with preferences, we'll concentrate on making
sure we have an adequate supply.

We'll also evaluate driving impressions from the small sample we have in
use.

Overall, I'm please with the system. It offers Maxima owners a quality
system that enhances intake sound when performance acceleration is called
for without the annoying hiss associated with competitive systems equipped
with gauze filters. At normal cruise, it's rather subtle and allows for a
pleasant cabin without any objectionable roar. Power gains are very good
with increases occurring relatively early in the RPM band. While high single
digit increases won't dramatically change the performance of this platform,
it's certainly a benefit when you combine the gains with a great audible
tone, very nice under hood appearance, easy installation and the best
synthetic filter a Maxima can be equipped with. It makes no sense to seek
performance benefits and additional engine note while compromising engine
protection or buying a product that involves cleaning and oiling as required
and necessary maintenance. Plus, R2C system owners won't spend a penny on
maintenance and the filters will last as long as the car. Unlike any
competitor, R2C filter technology actually improves upon the efficiency of
the OEM filter.

Regards,
Ed

Great News From Ed Guys...
We should have the systems boxed and ready to ship by the end of next week. The bulk will be polished and black powder followed by the nickel.

Regular price will be $299 for the polished and powder coated while the black nickel plated will be $349.

Forum members will be offered the standard finish options for $249 and $284 for the black nickel. I'll make this special pricing available for a limited time.

Sincerely,
Ed

You can order via phone. The Buy Now link isn't functioning correctly on their sight yet. He'll bill your credit card once he ships them out.

I never said that it didn't seal much better nor did I say the filter wasn't superior, I simply stated that Stillen's unit looks better/more stock.

IMO the major difference besides the seal is the filter, all one would have to do is get the same filter for their Stillen unit and the results should/would be about the same.

I'm not too crazy about this RC2 intake as I once was when it first came out, I can't seem to justify paying $349 for an intake that isn't going to give me much more a boost than a regular intake.

I'd love to see some dyno numbers or some kind of proof positive that this intake is superior in performance to others.

You should know by now you can't see any dyno numbers for reasons that have been explained several times before. We did see Dyno results for the 6th Gen thanks to oolatec and they were minor but in the positive area. I agree with your comments on the Stillen unit fit and finish however they are just using a K&N which for me is not a great idea for a DD, $349 is expensive however your getting a quality product, I'm already a customer and couldn't be more pleased with the fit and finish as well as aesthetics and performance.
