BMW 650i vs. 2009 Maxima SV ;)

Well my nieghbor saw my new car and was like, looks fast
Actually these cars are about equal in times (according to edmunds anyway)... 0 - 60 5.6 secs .. i've done that with the 09 already.

http://www.edmunds.com/bmw/6series/2009/review.html

He bought the Car in 2006 and payed 75000 for it. Now it is worth 33000 and he owes over 50000 ! That sux, what a hit to take on a car...

So let us compare a 70000 thousand BMW to the New Max folks...

I think the car is way overpriced for the what it is. I had driven it, and it's nothing more than a 2 door 335 in my opinion. BMW really don't discount their cars when you buy them.. something like it includes all the maintenance .. dah dah dah ... i owned a BMW and lost nearly 8000 just driving it off the lot! Lucky I sold it on cars.com and got 4 more than what it was worth on trade... so i lost 4000 on it... never waste my money on hyped up German cars when the MAX can deliver the same quality at a fraction of the price

Uh ... the valet will find a better spot for the bimmer than for the max?

The Max is still way more practical. They could have got a GTR ... more bang for the buck.

That's ok. After 60mph the 650 will eat you for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Just goes to show that buying an expensive car really doesn't pay off as it loses it's value as you drive off the dealer lot! Then again it is same with any cars. Too bad 09 Max doesn't have a manual tranny would love to see what it could do with that?!?! But it is a beautiful car!

LOL ... they can have it! There are way faster cars than the 6 for less money. I'd rather keep the $$.

No doubt! Not to mention you can mod your car to go faster anyways!

That's what I did. BUT ... the key difference is 6 is under warranty. I had to throw my warranty out with my mods, but at least I can say I can blow the doors off a lot of cars on the road.

Just checked Car&Driver (who was more accurate with the Max SV)
650i 0 - 60 5.0, 1/4 13.6

but i'm getting 5.6 for a 2006... hmmm

http://www.caranddriver.pl/buying_gu...on+page-4.html

That car won't spank you too bad after 60... and most of the BMW drivers can't drive anyway Except the hood dudes in their 328i's

The 335i will kick our ****...

Yeah, but the depreciation of the 650i is the amount i bought my Max fer

Imagine making 800 dollar payments on a car that already is worth 20000 less than what you owe!

What does the 09 Max have to do with a 650i ? Nothing.. but I saved 15% on my car insurance with Geico

Although I don't own a 650i, I am also a BMW owner (740i) and have ridden in the 650i. Keeping in mind I absolutely worship my '09 Max, we are comparing apples to oranges. If you actually ENJOY driving, there is no comparison between our Maxima and the 650i car for car. Dollar for dollar, you have a good argument which I think is your point. We do get a lot of car for 35K though. Comparing the two on paper does not reveal the actual driving experience of the 650i (handling, braking, silky smooth acceleration, rock solid well beyond 100mph, etc). It is what sells BMW. I test drove my 740i "for the heck of it" and had to have it. The driving experience in BMW's higher end vehicles is intoxicating. However, for the price, it is hard to beat the '09 Max SV. My $.02

The consumer reports on BMW are almost all bad, way over priced!

Very well said. Never drove a 740i, but i'm sure it's an experience.
I had a 335i, and the Max is a very similar ride. Never had the Max over 100 yet on the freeway, although i had it around 100 at the track...
With the HIDs and 19" wheels, MAX is the one of the best values out there... It was up to me to get either a Lexus 350 or Max, I went with the Max. Lexus dealer was so tight and rude anyway .. Nissan gave me a great deal i couldn't refuse (no i didn't have a gun to my head to sign za papers!!!!)

I agree from my experience. I bought a 335i @ 42000, 1 week later i call the stealership and ask what they'll give me ... they said 33 or 34k ? I'm like ... WHAT ?????? wow! So i put it on cars.com and got 38k for it anyway ... i can live with 4k but not an 8 or 9k drop in less than a month i for 3 months before i sold it...
335i is a great car, but i should had really test drove it a few times before i bought it .. oh well...

Hey, what more do you want from a Russian guy without an education and English is my 2nd language Excuse me for my liquid helium IQ, but little things please little minds... so i'm stupid, who cares ?

09 Max just does fine here... real improvement (except for those who would like it in a Manual 6) I can't notice much of a ride difference from my 335i to the 09 Max (except the 335i was a faster car and had a better turning radius). And the 650i reminds me of a 2 Door 335i... not worth the money 75000.. sheesh!

This thread is ridiculous! You are comparing vehicles from two completely different price points! It's like tasting "chuck steak" to "angus beef". Don't get me wrong...I've been a Maxima driver since "87, but to put it up against a 6 series beemer...get real!

The 09 is so refined i am putting it against a 6 series Beamer.. who says I can't ? My neighbor started it, not me.. Hey consumer reports gave the 09 Max a 10... not many cars achieved that, so... hats off to the 09 Max SV !
I drove the 650i and all i can say, there ain't no 75000 difference in driving to pay that much ... if i'm going to spend that kinda money, i'll get something that'll really turn heads and really perform all around ! Z06, Viper, or a used Maserati Turismo
Nothing like going 0 - 60 in 3.1 ~ 3.3 seconds stock! 1/4 in the 11's or 10's with slicks!

excuse me, i don't see nobody breaking their arm out their car window trying to cellphone photo a 650i...

oh wait, i forgot.. probably get a GTR

the only thing that a maxima has in common with a bmw is the fact that they both have 4 wheels.

if you are looking to give up your sack and look at driving as a way to get to work then a max is great for u and thus this makes sense.

if you look at going to work as an excuse to drive the heck out of a car.... then you would want anything but a car with a ctv or what ever left leg-less trans is in the 09 max

The CVT in the 09 Max is better than most Automatics I had driven.. very responsive! Has a manual mode that gives instant feedback... I don't know.. it's sporty enough to drive the heck out of! I drove my neighbors 650i, nothing special about it .. the Max 0 - 100 is all over it so... what's the point ? spend 75000 add another 20000 - 25000 and get an Audi R8 used with 4500 miles on it; 2008 At least that'll put you in another Universe !

Now then, this is more like it if i'm going to blow 75000+ on a car ! Get one of these baby's used for 109000.00...

I would rather wait until they drop the V10 in.
