1/4 Mile Time @ the Track today
#42
Well I appreciate the input, but getting back on topic.. ehemm...
I'm going to the track again with 1/4 tank of 93 octane and remove the spare. Figured out a better launch to use, and it will be during the night so hopefully it will be cooler outside! See what times i get!

The Bradenton track is one of the best tacks I've been to, plus it's at sea level. You just have to get there early before the muscle cars drop their lquids all over the place.
Another tip...get there early, pop the hood and let the engine cool down a bit before you run.
I ran my best time of 14.22 @ 98.8 in my stock SE-R on a 60 degree day.

Update! First of all, i was running 87 Octane for those previous runs... so i went through a full tank of 93 Octane, then filled up a couple gallons. By the time i went to the track, it had 55 miles left, so that's ~ 2 gallons in the car. No golf clubs in the back either Anyway, this was amazing. If you launch @ 1800 rpm (seems to be the Max you can go with a CVT (without a Neutral Drop ), and stage shallow, and the yellow light right before green you let the car start to pull from the 1800 rpm over powering the brake, launch.. you'll get 2.17 ~ 2.20 60'! Anyway, now i achieved a best time of 13.87 @ 101.13 mph !!! wow! 1/8 mile time was 9.05 @ 82.5, 0 - 60 on the meter during that run was 5.32 secs. It was 75 degrees.. much cooler! I think the cooler weather really helps because i noticed when i ran the car in the 85 ~ 93 degree weather, it was about ~.4 secs slower... I think i Maxed out the car, unless you can get 40 degree weather and take the spare out ... but 13.87 is a hell of a run for this car. The launch was perfect, and i think that's the key to getting into the 13's.. if you don't get the launch right, you'll be in the 14.2 ~ .3 range maybe 14.1s on a cool night. The car's rpm went higher running 93 Octane (well after a while i ran it, and ran it hard a few times so the computer would adjust). With 93, the car will go up to 6600 rpm and really pull! With the 87, it only went to 6300 ~ 6400 and didn't pull so hard. So 93 Octane makes a difference. So this is a 13's Maxima if you drive it right, use 93 Octane, 2 gallons of gas only ( eliminates about 18 X 6.3 lbs of fuel) and about 75 degrees outside, no wind, normal 30.01 Hg and normal Humidity. This car seems really fast now... I think the CVT has the advantage in that you don't lose time from shifting and powerband dropping... so it has its pluses... I also noticed (well duh for almost any engine) that if you drive it around in cool weather to really cool the motor off before a run, it'll get these times... if it heat soaks.. noway! 14s again... this motor really responds to cooler weather!

Those are GREAT times! Maybe you have one of those "factory freaks"?
It'll be interesting to see someone run it in an area with lower dew points. They're usually right around 70 this time of the year on the FL. coast and won't drop off until late October/November.
Why are you using regular in you new baby anyway?

I always break-in my cars this way ... it seems every car i had ran strong! Rumor is it don't matter on nowadays cars but i do it anyway.
And the oil change @ 1000 miles... that one was free!

Those are very good times man these cars pull hard Ima go for first time with this car to the local 1/8th mile track this thursday hopefully I get similar times i just dont know how ima launch it this is my first FWD.....

my best is 2.17
All i can say is keep the gastank around 2 gallons, and hopefully the weather isn't too warm and don't let the car heatsoak. The heatsoak really affects these engines...
That's what helped me dip into the upper 13's...
#52
If you get it <= 2.20, you're launching well .. 2.25 isn't bad... 2.30 is not really good.. usually spin too much or to weak of a launch...

I had to dig up this thread, sorry if its not allowed.
Were these times realistic? You broke 13s stock?
1sik4dsc ran 13.8s with all his mods, it just doesn't make sense to me...
I will be going to the track in a couple weeks myself, I've never been there but I can't imagine its too difficult.

Well, I will be going down to the track to Englishtown NJ. I live in BK, so I need to be prepared. I just placed an order for STILLEN Intake, Racingline Y-Pipe, remove the spare, drain the windshield washer fluid, take out the rear seats, reduce the air pressure in the front tires from 35 to 28 maybe a little lower. I also want to get a Roof Spoiler STILLEN Lip. Planning on going there around in May. There are some more tweaks I will do to it.

Maybe there are just a few freak 7th gens out there (like mine) that were just rockets out of the box!

I broke into the 13's stock as well. 13.93 @ 100.45 with just a hair over 10K on the odo. The 60ft times sucked (thanks CVT) and couldn't get any quicker than 2.20's all day.

Not a Freak I ran a 14 out of the box... good launch and good temps make it happen.... I will just continue to pray something can be done to this CVT to help 60 ft time... it is funny that some cars stay right next to someone I know and then after 25-30mph the MAxima pulls away big time...
From a dig, this car is a slug. Now from a 40mph roll... that's a different story as we all know!

Same here. First pass ever was a 14.1 @99.xx mph. The trans will be the enemy of anyone wanting a faster 7th gen at the 1/4 mile. If you want a 12.9 bone stock car, get an Automatic 370Z

Probably going to hit the track again this spring and see if the Stillen intake did anything for top-end. Watch, I'll be even slower the next go-around

These VQ's put out quite a bit of heat (just ask any 350/370Z owner that's dragged their car or been on an auto-x course) so definitely make a trip to the 1/4 mile before it gets hot and humid.

Yeah, MIR is a pretty nice track. Even on the private track days up there, they're doing great prep work to make sure everyone gets the best launch possible (one lane for street tires, another for DR's, slicks).
Need to go back soon... buddy just tuned his 2011 5.0 for another 40rwhp, so of course I gotta run my car

when i had the bullydog it posted on my dynolicious app (iphone) i did a run 0-60 5.43 sec
with 260 to the front wheels and i took my friends 08' 335i coupe auto until 110 then traffic but he uses redular gas only premium for me
but 5.43s run with the brake and gas start was fu**king awesome prob 1/4 mile 14 flat
