Well if its the plastic chrome that i got i would say that its a bad idea... although i will agree that mine was probably bad quality. Mine actually started to tarnish because of moisture from the snow and rain. I ended up taking them off... I'll put the SV- When i find a good quality pair.
I have no clue y nissan didnt just put this on the car in the first place

Yeah, I know it sounds like some crazy fabrication but it could work, plus the lettering isn't plastic, it is real chrome.

re-badging for SV
I for one, don't really get this trend towards de-badging, unless the original emblems are badly done. I also cannot for the life of me figure out why the 7th Gen Maxima dispensed with the engine size and model emblem (i.e. 3.5 SV). Personally, I hate the MAXIMA text, both the font and location. I removed that (2010 SV), but bought some very classy 3/4" chrome block letters online and spaced them out under the license plate, in a manner similar to how Infiniti has done it over the years. I'm very pleased with that. But then it started to bug me that I spent a lot of extra dough to by a fully loaded Maxima (although not the Sport pkg) and have it look, at a glance, like a bargain basement Max with cloth seats and no option! Some research on ebay showed me that the 6th gen had the engine and model emblem -- but not the 7th gen. I figured I'd have to do my 3.5 SV emblem with more custom letters -- until I discovered that for the new 2013 Altima redesign, there is, you guessed it, a "3.5 SV" emblem! Of course, when I went looking on Ebay, All I could find at this particular time was a 2.5 SV and a 3.5 SE. Being impatient, I bought both and will put together what I want. I'm sure in a few months, after the the 2013 Altima is out for a while, there will be plenty of 3.5 SV's for anybody that wants one. The "S" is pretty common, so getting an extra one for those with the SV-S will be able to achieve that too. If anybody cares to see how my trunk turns out, let me know. I continue to wonder why Nissan badges all of their models (S, SE, SV, etc.) but not the Maxima???

I don't think I was off topic at all, and so what if the thread is old?
Guys, I don't think my post was the one referred to for "bumping a three year old thread." Look at the quote specified in the bottom, somebody else made some lame comment and I think it was deleted. But it did leave the impression that my post and comments were the culprit. I don't see how my comment was at all off-topic. Sometimes a good solution to a question doesn't happen for a year or more.
So all that said, I did get my 2013 Altima badges -- one was 2.5 SV and the other was 3.5 SL. I took half of each, and now my '10 Max has 3.5 SV. Knowing what I know now, it would have surely been easier and probably cheaper to go to the Nissan dealer parts dept. and simply order the 3.5 SV Emblem from them. But I was going with what was available on ebay at that moment. I think it looks great, and I'm still mystified why Nissan would emblem the Altima but not the Maxima (when they did so for previous gens).
