Free XM Radio
Is anybody else getting free xm radio by any chance. I got a three month free subscription but I have not called in to register my vehicle yet. Just the other day I was messing with my stereo and I get all of the xm channels. Now I am afraid to call XM just incase they turn it off.
I used the right **** on my stereo to change the stations for the XM. On the screen though it still reads preview.

when they call you to set up the new plan...
tell them you only want the $77 half price plan for one year or you will cancel your subscription. its a winback campaign. the old promo code was "zwinback" if they ask.
tell them the dealer told you about the $77 plan.
They will give it to you.

Those are the preset names! just try saving a channel to them instead!
as for the plans... if they will not offer you a good plan, wait for your radio to be turned off, then they will call you and offer you the world!

I didn't think I'd use my XM, so I never signed up. I've been in a fully-loaded Altima rental for a while which has XM so I've been using it. Damnit this is why they give you the free trial, now I'm going to have to sign up for it with my Max...lol

Mine is expiring in May so we'll see if I get it also

Maybe you live in a different area, thus Sirius XM has a different market model for you?
I paid around $80-ish for just those two services for one year.

I paid $30 for 6 months... You have to call and cancel they will offer you all different options to get you to stay... Just whenever they offer you a plan (being the 1 year for half price which comes out to 100 bucks) just say that it's still a bit expensive and that you can't afford that... My sister got 5 months for $25 bucks.

i just got an offer in the mail for 6month for $25. pretty good deal. The problem is now people can just use there phone and use Aol radio, Pandora, etc for free.
i pretty much only used Xm for about 3 stations, so it was kind of a waste and not sure if ill sign up again. Ive been using Pandora mostly now

As you can see below, I was contacted by Sirius regarding my situation. I did go to the link and sent them an email with my personal information. I'll keep all posted on how things play out.

Weather and traffic are services not only channels. You should have the menu option on your display to look at weather information both for your city and the US.
As far as the traffic services through XM, when you use GPS, it will display traffic on your route as a red, yellow or green line across major interstates and many parkways. In Atlanta, its great as every road with a speed limit of 55 or above is on there at least in the greater metro area. When you go into other cities, you may only get one or two highways on the display.
it can be helpful if you are on a trip and not really sure how long that line of cars really is and should you detour around it

No matter what you do with XM/Sirius, do not give them your credit card number. Ask for a hard copy bill and ask them to waive the $2. fee.
If they have your cc number, they will renew your service every year using the highest rate in effect and it is hard to get them to cancel or reduce the rate.
There is a ton of threads to read on corvetteforum.com as this is a popular complaint with the Corvette owners.
I recently renewed all 3 cars for $86 each for a year. The $77 rate is no longer available.
Best of luck.

Sorry should have been more specific. Atlanta10 explains it well. With the music box I tend to not use the radio portion that much and all the sports in Ma are well covered on free radio. I do like the weather alerts that come through as well as the traffic option with the GPS. That being said, for what you pay to get built in GPS, it's somewhat bogus that you have to pay extra for a feature as basic as traffic.
