I'm considering repainting my 07. It's the light silver, recently scuffed up in an accident, so I've got insurance money coming anyway. If I went to a regular Paint and body shop, what would be a going rate for something like that in the Central FL area?

I'm certainly not talking about a Macco $599 special, I'm talking about a quality job. Figure with the inside door and trunk lid color change, plus the full exterior (with flip up sun roof) with Clear coat.

I'm thinking around $3000...

your best bet is to go to the shop so they can see your car and give you an estimate. no one here is gonna really know because every shop gives different quotes so you just gonna have to to drive and let them see the car. then you can find out based on your budget which shop is best for you.

To do the job right, all the R&R's Jambs ect. wet sand and polish, your definately over 3G's.

A couple of other considerations, are you going back with the original Nissan Paint Color?, scuffed up - any actual dents there, as what looks like 'simple' body work can rack up cost quickly.

Been too long since I had a car painted, but just my hood, front fenders, and bumper, on a Pearl White 280zx cost $3k (and that was nearly 15 years ago... found that the pearl color in the paint is actually an expensive process requiring several layers of paints)

Good Luck getting your paint, make sure you go to a reputable shop, (go to www.geico.com and check out the shops they recommend)

I get what you're saying, I was just interested in experience anyone has had with this before I go out and get shocked. I'm sure some novelty places will probably be no less then $6000, and a typical body shop used to doing collisions will be less, but inflate just because they don't want something that detailed. Then there's some mom&pop places out there with great painters just looking for something other than collision work to repaint.

In short, before I go out, I wanted to know what to expect...

SiathLinux, that's true about the Pearl being costly. It's a bit of a process, and painters without enough experience with them wouldn't even touch it, especially on only part of the car. Thanks for your input.

It really all depends on the body shop and how much damage you have around your car but around 3k to 6k for a good quality paint job expect to pay

Hi. I'm new to the forum and I have some questions.

I want to say first that I see some 97-99 Maximas around still with pretty good looking black shiny paint. Someone mentioned in this thread that the stock paint is crappy. What is crappy about it?

Is there a better paint that can be used to get that deep dark black reflective effect that some Maximas have still? Paint like that looks really hot to me.

I'm looking to get a 97-99 Maxima again, and I needed to know what the best route would be as far as a new paint job.

Also, it seems like Maxima had better paint (I guess more reflective paint) than the Toyota Camry and the Honda Civic/Accord of the 90's. Am I imagining this and they really used similar paint?

Edit: Opps, I'm not sure if I'm suppose to mention other car brands on here. Anyway, I'm a hardcore Maxi guy. No harm intended.

The paint is only as good as its cared for. My 99 with 200k miles still shines deep although the front bumper and hood has its fair share of highway sand blasting.

when it comes to paint jobs it can be very tricky. in some of theses cases is who you know in my case i have a cousin that owns a paint shop and i got a good paint job for 1100 bucks when his price is 2500 bucks

A full color change, done right with high quality paint by someone a good body shop with a good reputation... ain't happenin' for 3g's... 4g minimum

Yeah, a buddy of mine who does a lot of salvage-car rebuilding and isn't afraid of completely taking cars apart, quoted me 1600 for my 5th gen, but that was my "buddy" price with color change. I haven't called the custom shop to see how much they would want. So, yeah, get some quotes...
Rod (Rods03Max619) had his done for about 1700 I believe...

also the more you keep the car garaged and out of the elements the better that paint will look... I saw a lexus RX and it looked fresh out the dealer. It looks like the owner never even took it out in the rain.
