keep in mind the 255/40 will be quite a bit smaller in diameter than the OEM tire, which will throw off your spedometer nearly 3%.

To the OP: what tire size are you running in the front? 285 is very impressive; I'm hoping to squeeze some 265s onto mine...with the right offset I doubt it'll be much of a problem. I have 20 mm spacers with a tire that's much larger than stock on my car right now and with a little fender modding it works just fine.
