The immobilizer system isn't easily disabled, that's the entire point of it.
You
could do what you're saying, but the key would still have to be in the ignition (or the chip in close proximity to the NATS reader, if you wanted to dig the chip out and leave it taped on there). That's all to start the engine, of course. If you're not worried about that, then go to it.
