04 Maxuma tough start when cold

Vehicle takes a few seconds to start after it sits for an hour or so. Ideas?

Now car starts fine, but will not accelerate. push on gas pedal and car does nothing. cam sensors or fuel pump? No codes

OK, when car is cold starts fine drives fine but once normal operation temp will not accelerate. Brake and battery lights are on and still no codes (new battery 6 months ago)

I'd say you look into the fuel pump first since there're no codes.

with the battery and brake light on would a bad cell in the battery cause some of these problems? battery has enough juice to start car but I did notice lights dime when starter is engaged.

If I'm not mistaken, illumination of the battery and brake light means the alternator is on its way out.

Would that cause vehicle to go into limp mode?

I shouldn't think so. If you're on limp mode scan to verify what the issue is.

I have scanned, no codes. Once vehicle is shut off and let set for a few hours it drives normal until warm.

Well, that's no limp mode. As I said it's probably the fuel pump that's on its way out. The fuel unit is made up of a fuel pressure regulator; fuel level sensor; fuel filter; and fuel pump. I believe the pump fails once it gets hot. If you had cold hard starting I would point to the fuel pressure regulator.

If the battery and brake light is on it's definitely the alternator ad you car is running off the battery. Definitely change that. But as far as the car not accelerating I can't help you there

Take the car to one of those places that test batteries and alternator. If it's cold your CCA is probably low meaning that you'll need to replace the battery. If you're battery is brand new and your alternator is bad you'll reduce the lifespan of the battery. As for the car not reving it's cuz it's in safe mode and you'll have to replace your MAF sensor. You should definitely get someone to test your components. Good luck.

figured it was alternator, pulled it out and had it tested, GOOD. Battery tested, GOOD. Next idea?

I'm gonna go with bad ground. If that's not it I'm outta guesses. Check out grounding connection and if corroded clean.

I'd still say it's alternator- get multimeter and test the voltage yourself with engine running, that's the criteria the 'alt failure' circuit is using to lit up battery/brake lights. It should be within 13.8-14.4V range, higher in cold weather.

If one battery cell failed you wouldn't be able to crank the engine at all, it's not that.
