Aftermarket in-cabin microfilter

Does anyone think this is a bad idea? Price difference is hard to ignore vs. OEM. Thoughts?

IMHO, as long as it is an activated charcoal/carbon type of in cabin filter, you should be fine. IIRC, the activated charcoal will help prevent smells, mold, etc

What is the brand of the aftermarket cabin filter you are talking about?

Care to post pics and links?

Check out ROCKAUTO.COM and look at the FRAM Freesh Breeze filter.

I have used oem, regular aftermarket and fram fresh breeze. I like the idea of the fram. I can't tell I notice a difference but it's not more expensive anyway and I like the though.

Aftermarket filters are fine

I've used Fram fresh breeze in the past -- I only buy it when theres a good deal on it (most places sell it for $15-20, I think I paid around $10 after coupon/rebate last time I bought it)

This time I went ahead and just bought a regular cabin filter from eBay for $7 shipped (Vigor brand) since I didn't want to pay $15+ for Fram FB -- using it for the past few months and it works fine

Looks like theres a $3 rebate on the Fram (limit 2): http://fram.com/rebates/F2346_FINAL_$3FreshBreeze.pdf

Amazon has it for $15 - $3 rebate = $12 which isn't bad (free ship if you have prime or else buy 2 of them)

thanks for the coupon..i will scoop this up now

I also tried the febreeze fram and it did smell good but for a few days only..I also tried the Bosch charcoal one and that was suppose to eliminate molds and odors. Didn't notice any difference. Only thing I remember was changing the filters resulted in more air being blown from vents.
