Assess the value of my car (blown motor,5th/6th gear dont engage)
I'm fed up with this car. I've had fun with it, but time for something more reliable.
More details about the car:
2004 Maxima SE 6 speed manual
55,000 miles
Fairly clean, body is nice with a very small amount of clear coat peeling off by the tail light from when my neighborhood got egged.
Eibach springs/GR2 struts
Cross drilled and slotted rotors
Continental extreme sport tires on the front
Nexen N3000 or something like that in the rear
More details in my sig.
Let me know if you guys want to know anything else about the car to help give a somewhat accurate estimate.
Thanks guys.

You'd be better off with parting out mods. You wont get anything extra for them and people don't care for them in general. With that mileage and condition warranting there are no interior pics you'd be looking at anywhere from 4-5K
It also depends on what options you got. If your car just plain maxima, 4K is pushing it.

Try that. I hope you get what you want for the car.

$4k for a shell basically? A bit high if you ask me. Not sure hows the used car market in your area but around here, prices have come down quite a bit over the last 12 months. Even a 6th gen with low miles, when you consider it needing a new engine AND the transmission....Id say $3,500 would be pushing it. Just my $0.02.

There's always a buyer that will pay for what you are asking for it make some time but it will happen

Where are you guys getting your prices? No offense some on this board know nothing of the prices they are throwing out. Seen used engines for this car in the $700 to $900 range and transmission around $900 to $1500

I understand that I am not a wrench in either but what've seen in Az is they will install for under $500, most places in towns that can get you a used engine will install it for you for a deal

$500? Sounds too good to be true. $700 bare minimum. Besides for $500 il probably get a half assed job with me spending days troubleshooting later.
