Driver Power Window Fix

Hello all,

My sister's 2007 maxima driver side power window died a few months ago and I'm going to attempt to fix it for her. The motor was apparently dying until it finally gave out. I've been checking online and noticed they sell the motor by itself and the also sell the regulator minus the motor. Do I need to buy the whole assembly or will the motor suffice? And are there any good aftermarket places to purchase the part(s)?

I'm a honda guy and I recently fixed both window regulators on my accord so I'm hoping there isn't much of a difference in terms of labor. Also, if you know if any good after market or websites to purchase the parts, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

You only need to replace the motor, unless the wire on the regulator got tangled up and became stuck. The labor is different from your honda. The maxima has another inner panel you need to remove in order to remove the regulator and switch the motor.

I just did my passenger window this weekend. It was really easy and was done in about 30 minutes.

Watch this video. It might help you.

I am having a similar issue. I can hear the motor trying but nothing is happening. It may be tangled.

Just replaced the motor and regulator assembly on my Frontier...easy job.

I priced the parts both from the Dealer and local parts distributors. Local Nissan Dealer gives me a substantial club discount but the price for the motor and regulator was still over $300 before tax. List is over $400. There were some real cheap alternatives out there, but NAPA had the motor/regulator assembly for under $100.

I decided to bite the bullet and go with OEM thinking I would be getting higher quality parts...went down to the Dealer, Parts guy brought out the boxes and I was shocked to find that the OEM motor was made in China. Figured that if I was going to pay that much for Chinese parts I may as well buy aftermarket. I politely left, went directly to NAPA store and got out of there for under $100. NAPA motor made in Taiwan. The assembly fit and works perfectly and it has a lifetime warranty.

As with the Maxima, I could have purchased the motor and regulator separately; however, the price of buying them as an assembly was only a few bucks more (like $5.00 difference) than just purchasing the motor by itself.

Also, keep in mind that you will have to remove the entire assembly from the door in order to transfer the motor to the old regulator. I couldn't see reusing the old regulator since I already had it out of the door.

So if you can get a complete motor/regulator assembly for a reasonable price, you might want to consider doing that...could save work in the long-run
