rough idle in park and drive

Just bought a 2004 Maxima and am now getting a rough idle, as soon as I apply a tiny bit of fuel it smooths out? Any suggestions

Could be spark plugs how many miles on it? also you might want to check your MAF and throttle

Do the seafoam on youtube by chernmax, clean your MAF sensor with MAF cleaner. Make sure your air filter is clean. If that doesn't work, you might have to do the Idle Air Relearn Procedure, which is not very hard to do.

Anyone ever think there could be vacuum line problems. The rubber vacuum line tend to dry rot after years. I know the reply is late. Better late than never.

Vacuum line issues are not common on this car. If this is the case, you would be the first. I recommend doing the seafoam as mentioned and cleaning you MAF sensor.

Like I said better late than never. My max is an 07 SE with 118900 on the odometer. I just replaced the vacuum lines that go to the vias control. As well as the lines that go to the vacuum canister that sits on the intake. Wow like a new car. I found a tear in my vacuum which caused a rough idle, but produced no mil lamp. they were looking worse for wear. Also just replace rear wheel bearings and replaced rear valve cover gasket which was leaking. Now she purrs like a kitten. I did all the work myself. The vacuum lines are easy, just do 1 at a time, measure twice cut once. And don't change length of them. The valve cover was a pita but the bearing easy.

Po8pimp is correct. The vacuum line are not common, just check em, and if you find they are cracked then replace them. Auto zone sells the tubing. Take a piece to match. 3 ft of the tubing will be enough. Cost about 4 bucks.
