2004 maxima se has the start up rattle but also has a rattle while driving...has anyone experienced this and fixed the problem if so tell me wtf it is b4 I take this car and drive it through the front door of atlantic nissan! Bad enough this pos tranny sucks after being rebuilt and about to go back to install the transgo kit...I had enough I miss my vr6 jetta...faster and the issues it had were less retarted

Its the exhaust bracket (gusset) the original one's broke easy. Dealer sells them, they are better now days.

Nope he is serious I had the same sound until one day I up and fixed it .

Both of mine broke. Removed the pieces and the noise is gone!

My Max rattles under low acceloration, like pulling away froma standing stop, for a few seconds until the RPM's get up. I was guessing a heat sheild, but have not looked yet. Is this what you experienced?

OK, I got mine on a lift and the problem was not that bracket, but another one that holds the holds the Y-Pipe up. It was not broken, but loose. A little tightening and the problem is gone. Thanks for putting me on the right track.

I always used to hate how noticeable it was in parking ramps when you punch the gas a bit, messed up the otherwise nice exhaust and engine note..I always assumed it was the heatshield and never did anything about it.
