i have passed tons of cops in that time obviously and have been pulled over a few times (some during the day) and nothing was said about them. im not quite sure if it is a first or second offense but it was time to redo them anyway. Im taking it into the shop next week and i am thinking about buying new tail lights anyway. Thoughts about the Sped-d's?

Get them off ebay. like 170 shipped. Also tinting your tail lights are not illegal. Know your state laws and you should be fine. Most states require you to have visibility at certain distances when applied and a red reflective lens. Some cars come with darker colored tail lights from the factory. This is a prime reason I keep a copy of all the laws I would think a cop would pull me over for in my glove box. Tail lights, ground clearance, rim size, etc.

yeah, that tint looks faded real bad. I guess you didn't use good quality clear coat?

Tails that dark are just asking to get pulled over. I like a lightly tinted tails but nothing that dark, I bet that when it's real foggy in the morning, cars behind you can tell when you're braking. anyways, good luck on your new taillight purchase and post up some pics of them on the car.

yeah i used some ebay film. when youre in high school and not making a ton of money which film do you go for the $20 or the $140. The tint was fine but you are supposed to replace it once a year and it ended up cracking really badly because i did not replace it.

I had tinted tails for about 9 months. living in Riverside cops had better things to do than waste time on stuff like that. But i drive back to my home town of elk grove in northern california and the first day im back, i get pulled over. It was a fix it ticket, i rode out the duration of my ticket, swapped my old tail lights back on, had the cop check it, paid the 50 bucks drove home and put my tinted ones right back on.

i just recently sold my tinted ones and got the EZkoncept tails. Tinted tails are not technically illegal if you have the DMV test performed on them and can prove it. IE, must be visible at 1000 feet, be red in color, reflecting capability ect.. i could have fought it but it wasn't worth my time.

i would suggest getting the IPCW (ezkoncepts) cause the other aftermarket LEDs tails look like crap. only problem is the dude at ezkoncepts is a flake and a liar and doesn't keep his stock up if your wanting the black or ruby red. there is a guy on amazon selling them for real cheap so PM me if you want me to direct you.

you should have used niteshades. its 5 bucks and lasts forever, makes a real good glossy look too.. thats what i had on my tinted tail.
