When to replace Drive Belts??

I was wondering when is everyone replacing their drive belts? Are you going by years on the car or miles? I guess it really depends on how much you drive.

As seperate question, whatever happened to the led tail-lights that company (APCW?) was designing??

You need to inspect it regularly for cracks and shininess. If so, change it. So belts would last for 40k and others at 120k miles. So start inspecting it once you hit high mileage. Get OEM or Gates belts. I've heard that Gates belt is pretty good.

Drive belts NOTE (1) I* MA-12

NOTE:
(1) After 60,000 miles (96,000 km) or 48 months, inspect every 15,000 miles (24,000 km) or 12 months. Replace the drive belts if found damaged.

hope that helps

Thanks for the info. I'll check my belts during the next oil change.

I keep getting a whining sounds from belt every time I start the car. Once I drive it for a little while it goes away. Does that mean I should replace the belts. How many belts are there?

LOL, this is funny. It is officially been over 4 years since he said that. I can only imagined he has changed them by now.

well at least I'm not the only one bumping old threads. While we're here, can anyone tell me why I get a whining noise from a higher rpm level? I don't get it until I need to get to 35mph or so, but only when I'm giving it the pedal.

I don't know if this is related or not, but why is it that every time it rains, my car makes this awfully loud sound? Sounds like an old car with belt issues and this only happens when it rains.
