Another Maxima KIA

went to pull out of the gas station Wednesday, and the exit is just in front of an intersection. the light was red and the lady in the close lane hung back to let me in, and gave me the wave to go through. there was a big rig behind her and i couldn't see if there were any cars coming in the other lane. so i crept out really slow and some guy was doing about 100KMH in a 60 zone and demolished the front end of poor Maxine. The cops showed up and i got the ticket for failing to yield even though 3 witnesses strayed behind and said the other guy was speeding and was about to blow through the red light anyways. the cop was really cool about it all but had to give me the ticket for "failing to yield form a private driveway" so $110 ticket and 2 or 3 points but the cop is going to try and nail the other guy for speeding, careless, or reckless driving because if i hadn't been at the wrong place at the wrong time the guy would have T boned someone in the intersection he was about to blow through. the car that hit me was a late 90's Chevy Lumina or LTZ and the hood and everything was punched in about 18 inches. both cars are a write off but everyone is ok luckily. front and rear side curtain air bags went off as well as the on in the driver seat.
the loser in the Chevy had both front air bags go off in his car too. i was actually surprised the car didn't stall or anything i ha to shut it off and i don't think the Bose stereo even let the CD skip. thank god for the the 6th gens awesome design for keeping me safe. as for a replacement car I'm looking into either an s13 or s14 240SX to replace it with or a 71-ish Datsun 240z. I loved my Nissan to death and I'm definitely getting another. just really want to get something a bit more financially friendly as i am looking to buy a house soon. here are some pics of the funeral.

Sorry to hear this bro. I got rear ended on 4-20 by a chick texting and driving in her Jeep. Four days later,I was driving my dad's RX330 when a taxi ran a red and clipped my front end. I feel your pain.

s orry man, i lost my 4th gen to an idiot van driver, luckly i didn't get a ticket and the insurance bought me my 6th gen. i would say go to the wrecking yard grab anything extra you put on your car (sneak out your MAF) and sell it. i went to the wrecking yard with a screw driver, a saws all, and some pliers. when it came time to take out my CAI the MAF came along for the ride lol. Got 100 bucks for it!

That really sucks man. I hope you do find what you are looking for those 240s are getting harder to find without someone else modifications though.

If you do decide to part-out, PM me and I will make you an offer for the grille and intake.

Thats horrible man, looks nasty but Im glad that your ok. I crashed into some girl with no license a month ago with my car and got that same failure to yield ticket bc I had a stop sign, which I stopped for and proceeded and ended up crashing into her. I got a 113.00 ticket, no points her charges got dropped.

i'll see what i can do about the grille, but the springs are too much hassle and the intake its crumpled up and isnt salvageable.

i hear what your saying about the 240's BossMaxima everyone i find in good shape is all rotten on the frame rails up front or has a bunch of cheap mods from autozone and Canadian tire. same with the datsuns its either a rotten one for parts or a fresh restoration for like $25,000

I see the vultures are already circling.

Glad you are ok and that damage is minimal from the event you described. These cars are really well built. I'm guessing the front unibody area is bent relative to the car so that's why they are totalling it.

Lol, about the vultures circling. That was funny.

Shoey1, sorry for your loss, dude. Very glad you are ok. I hope you find another NISSAN to love again. Save and get you that house. Great investment.

If you're not already locked into that house, you may want to wait a while. The market is still going down...

Damn thats sad man.. sell your grille lol im sure someone will buy it. Whats important is that you are safe and no one was injured. A car can be easily replaced.

Sorry for the loss, glad your still breathing, why get a house when you can get another maxima? You can make that your new house. It's big enough just no bathroom or shower or kitchen.

WOW - that sucks dude, glad that you were ok and able to walk away from that sht. Like it was said earlier, cars can be replaced, lives can't.

On a side note, I agree with Rsprince89, why grab a house now (I'm assuming you are around the GTA like me). Market is crazy volatile now, grab yourself another 6th gen and live in it

Damn, glad you're okay. If you had come out a little more in front of the guy, that might have been horrendous. Either way, it's just a car and you're good. Hopefully insurance will compensate you well.

If he was really going that fast, he must have just glanced off of you. The damage is minimal at best.
Point being, 100 kph (62MPH), direct hit, you would have been crushed, spun in a circle tons more damage...
Your suspension doesn't even look off...Yeah, if he was going that fast, it was a minimal glancing blow.

I'd be shocked if this does total out. Not sure what your car is worth, but I'd venture to guess,
you're looking at maybe $4000 US in damage. If you're car is worth $8000, then expect it to be fixed and not totaled.

he was doing 100 kmh before he hit the brakes thats why it isnt as bad as you thought. the skid marks from his car went on forever. thank god he didnt have ABS or no one would beleive me. i found a MINT S13 240sx LE with a clean sr20 already dropped in with full tune and all the proper mods im looking for and its only $6000. the body and body kit have been molded together for the smoothest clean look you've ever seen. im not into body kits but this car looks great, is clean as they come, and has everything im looking for. ill post some pics later....if i buy it

Lookin forward to it, seems like you got a GOOD price on it. Plus, you don't really have to spend any money to mod it.

Buffalo Mike, what's the name of the girl in your avatar!

To the OP, Don't buy the replacement car until you've heard from your insurance company.
I still think this will be fixable in the cost vs car value comparison...
